@patolt1628 I am a specialist because I live here. Not only is Scotland the most deprived part of the U.K., it’s one of the most deprived parts of Europe, with the worst health and lowest life expectancy. Scotland has been an English colony for over 300 years, during which time they’ve generally been treated like second class citizens and effectively seen a consistent transfer of wealth from Scotland to England. It’s traditionally been the testing ground for all of the most unpopular and unpleasant government policies, for example the poll tax, and I guess a lot of people have finally had enough. Just like when Britain was given a voice they voted out of Europe, because Scotland has a charge to have a voice they might reduce to vote out of the U.K.. After all, plenty of other European countries have had their chance of independence, so why shouldn’t Scotland get theirs if they want it? Isn’t that democracy? I don’t really see any reason why Catalonia and the basque region shouldn’t have theirs either tbh. And if Texas wants to secede from the Union, they should be allowed to.

@patolt1628 well that’s certainly one point of view. I’m not sure that I agree democracy and independence should only be applicable to certain in Pele people in some areas and not others though. France, the USA, Europe and NATO were keen to give all the breakaway republics in Yugoslavia independence, despite there being no doubt they were much stronger collectively. The same was true for the Eastern European countries and the republics of the old USSR. There’s no question that they were stronger together, so I doing really think that’s a valid argument tbh. No, it’s just that for some people it’s politically expedient to allow the breakup of certain nations by encouraging, enabling and allowing independence, whilst denying it for others. Bigger countries lead to bigger, more bloody and more destructive wars. Incidentally are you aware that macron was essentially enabled to power in France by the USA? It was effectively a regime change, similar to what they did in Ukraine and what they have just done in Pakistan. This will probably come as a surprise to you but if you do the right investigations you will see the USA’s fingerprints all over it. I don’t think he’s as much a puppet as Zelensky is but he’s certainly an asset.
