@CoralCopperHead you wouldn’t get people like that today. If that was an Iraqi commander surrendering his pistol the American would have pistol whipped him and shot him with it. I can guarantee that no American gi came back from Iraq or Afghanistan with a captured firearm that they did not shoot

@johnharris6655 they took up Congress’s time with an entire bill to give one man a medal? Isn’t that a decision a general in the army can take? Seems like a really expensive and time consuming way of doling out medals

@cheng3580 one soldier in a war that killed 40 million people need congress to debate whether or not he should get a medal? Perhaps Congress should pass bills on every medal awarded to every soldier in every war, in site of they've got any time to do anything else someone will just filibuster to prevent it happening anyway

@codyleslie478 you’re not the dude, y’know? In all honesty, generals should be deciding who gets medals, not Congress. Most of congress have never served and wouldn’t have a clue what deserves a medial, and frankly they have a lot more important and pressing problems to solve other than debating whether someone should get a medal or not for a battle that happened 70 years ago, something most of them are totally unqualified to have an opinion on anyway
