@Bacteriophagebs wrong. It's trashed because if it were sold the price of food would go down and so would profits. There is no shortage of food, just like there's no shortage of petrol, it's just withholding supply allows then to raise the prices and increase profits

@Sir_Gerald_Nosehairs. you must not be a student of history, or a farmer. The UK became the first country in the world to rely on net food imports back in the 1830s. We've not been self sufficient in food for almost 200 years. If we were, food prices would be much, much higher and of course you wouldn't get anywhere near the variety of choice, and nowhere near the volume of meat that you eat
