  1. “We love and believe in our railways”. The words of a man who has never had to depend upon them. I can assure him that those of us who do neither love nor believe in them. Slovakia has a better railway system, more modern, more reliable and cheaper. Slovakia ffs. And don’t get me started on Switzerland where they have to build railways up and through mountains and contend with 35+ and -25 yet are still punctual and eminently more affordable

  5.  @Dunk1970  yes, getting rid of the ticket seller will really improve the service of the railway, what a genius boris is. He could increase Uber huge taxpayer subsidies given to the railway operating companies too, that would increase their record breaking profits even further. It’s quite amazing that they manage to run the worst service, with the highest prices, making the most profits, in the whole of Europe, all on only the largest subsidies in Europe. Imagine how much better they could do if they get rid of ticket sellers and get even larger subsidies. They could have higher than inflation price rises whilst freezing wages again, that will really improve the service. Truly brilliant.
