  4.  @shoelessjoe428  because nato promised Russia Ukraine would never become a member back in 92 in a treaty that recognised Ukrainian sovereignty, since they reneged on that Russia isn't sticking to it's side. When Slovenia and Croatia and Bosnia declared independence nato recognised them and stepped in to help, Russia is doing the same with the dombass region. It's full of ethnic Russians who speak Russian and want to be independent from Ukraine and part of Russia so what's the issue?
