The military oil industrial complex takes America into war, and you can isolate as much as you want that ain't gonna change, not with over 1000 overseas military bases. They're already regretting Cheney closing the bases in the Philippines when that volcano blew up. Germany doesn't have an isolationist policy yet it has booming manufacturing base and doesn't go round invading anyone anymore either. Ditto Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Switzerland, etc etc

  15. This isn't really going to have any effect right now. However, if this movement continues and grows and these kids do the same thing when they go into the world work, then it might. If half the western worlds workforce started going out on strike on a regular basis governments and multinationals would sit up and take notice. It's not enough itself though. Consumption is the driving force behind pollution. Change how you consume and you will change the world. I have a feeling that many of these kids are happy to cut class but still want that new phone, new trainers and trip to Disneyland

Iphones are made in south East Asia and come across via boat or even worse plane. Although in both cases the pollution is nowhere near going population and therefore mostly harmless to people, unlike car pollution.
