  1. andre ebanks it's got a lot more to do the lack of qualifications of the pilot, who didn't have a licence to operate privately, the state of the aircraft, and the fact the flight path included 120 miles over the sea, which for a single engined light aircraft is questionable, particularly as there is an overland route that only spends 12-20 miles over the sea, via Calais and Dover. Had this route been taken, it is highly likely they would have effected am emergency landing and still been very much alive
