@johnmcmahon5145 They can try but that doesn't mean they will be accepted yes they don't have to claim asylum in the first safest country but as soon as they're in a safe country you don't need to class them as people fleeing a war torn country anymore. Australia did this and sorted their problems on this topic not too long after as people realised they ain't going to get their own way.
