  1. They don't have ribs I give you that but they can suffocate they rely on the oxygen in the ocean to survive they need to keep moving in order for their gills to bring it in so they could be suffocated technically.

  4. Adaptation amigo the only place it can actually harm them is it's eyes hence he shuts them. Scales all across it's body and it's mouth all the way down to his stomach has spiny bits that pierce it to hold the thing together it's also also protected against it.
