Wow dude. This woman is in extreme emotional distress and the newscaster is there trying to push her along anyway. "It's important because there might be more victims" ... Well it's important for her to tell this stuff to police for that reason. Not so much for her to recount it to you on demand when you clearly already know all the details from the booking producer. This is disgusting behaviour.

This is nonsense. Voice recordings are rarely taken in hacks, and those hacking aren't the same people scamming. Data dumps are often several terabytes worth of text database. They're after passwords, cc #'s and identity information that can be used to steal your ID. This information is highly searchable so it can be readily used by the hackers customers. Customers because that data is purchased from the hackers for not insignificant amounts of money. Storing and transferring a text database is relatively easy. Customer recording archives on the other hand, are in a completely different system, aren't held indefinitely, aren't linked to a customer account and most importantly, because they're audio recording can be several hundred terabytes to an archive. Why would anyone bother going through all of that hassle, and expense when they can just call your voicemail and get a recording of your voice that way? Then cross reference your phone number and stated name in your voicemail with social media tools? That costs the price of a phone call and some time to do OSINT & SOCMINT.

You have to find them inside a jurisdiction that you have control over first. That money isn't leaving the country for giggles. Most scammers are in India where they have the protection of Indian police.
