  1. The paper straws are now coated in plastic to improve their longevity. It's a thin layer so it doesn't count as a plastic straw, but it solved literally nothing. Plastic bag bans were all about giving large retailers an excuse to stop absorbing the cost of the bag and make the consumer pay for it. That's what the entire thing is about. The "reusable" plastic bags aren't really all that reusable and can't actually be recycled at scale. Now everything is going to paper. Remember in the 70s, 80s and 90s when everything was save the trees for the environment? Give it a minute and we'll be back there.
