Or as people. We're more like a-gendered androids to them. that's not a social change, it's a hard-wired function of what it is to be a woman. There's the nice guys they can get something from in their friend zone, and the badboys who they think of as actual men. So think about the most hypermasculine men. The bikers, the gangers, violent criminals. These are the groups women associate as men, as opposed to simply male. What are the chances a convinced murderer and grapist a woman comes across alone in the woods will grape her? That's what they're thinking about. Tony who brings the mail every day and Brendan who just made her a lovely coffee flavoured sugar drink at starbucks, aren't men in her head. They're just set pieces. Props.
