It's information is shared with five eyes but isn't run by five eyes (which is led by the UK). It isn't in the dead centre, it's in NT. Every Aussie knows it exists, it's very contentious. Many of us want it to close down, including many in government because yankville don't share things as freely as they should. There are protests there. There's also a well known conspiracy theory about pine gap and Gough Whitlam. As for what happens if you get close to the base. Some AFP officers come out and detain you.
