So the UK are upset that they aren't getting good bang for they pounds spent paying France, and France is upset the UK is looking to strengthen their enforcement measures to keep the problem in France, and making the money the UK spends conditional on performance. Seems like France just thought it could do minimal effort, fail to really stop crossings but still walk off with the cash. Clearly if your neighbour has to pay you to police your border, you aren't genuinely concerned about "saving lives at sea".

  9. Please start giving context to the military build-up. Ukraine started building up military forces in March 2021. There are now more than 100K Ukrainian soldiers on the border, complete with artillery, takes, long range missiles, etc. In the last few weeks the west has armed those soldiers with advanced weapons. If hypothetically Mexico started massing at the yankville border, would yankville be "looking to invade mexico" when they placed counter troops in place to try to scare off action by Mexico? Would it be reasonable for Mexico's allies to start accusing yankville of wanting to invade and calling it a crisis? Would it be journalism if the news kept only reporting about the yankville build-up of troops and failed to mention why those troops are there or what Mexico was doing? Come on EuroNews, report the facts and the context. Ukraine is directly threatening Russia and the contested Donbas region. It's that simple.

  12.  @sucram1018  That is completely false. Vaccination absolutely protects you. Your problem is that you don't understand how vaccines work. None of the regular schedule vaccines stop the spread of their target pathogen. Not any of the vaccines in MMR, not the polio vaccine, not varicella, not hooping cough. All they do is prime your immune system to actively look for their target pathogen so that it can be destroyed through immune response before it has a chance to take hold in your body. All boosters do is remind your immune system that it's supposed to be actively looking for the target pathogen. If you have a large enough group of unvaccinated people, then the target pathogen (in this case SARS-CoV-2) is able to turn those people into reservoirs. That is, the pathogen replicates in the unvaccinated host and is able to spread around infecting lots of people. That's why you've heard a lot from different governments about their goal vaccination percentages. Not all people are eligible to be vaccinated. Children under 12 for now, and under 5 for some time to come for example. People with some types of immunosuppressive disorders, or particular illness also can't be vaccinated. That leaves these cohorts (groups) vulnerable to infection. For that reason we need enough people vaccinated so that the pathogen does not have the ability to get a foothold in the community and spread around. It helps protect the vulnerable who aren't able to get vaccinated. Think of it like a rainy day in a crowded outdoor space. If only a few people have umbrellas, lots of people are going to get wet, and sometimes the water will splash off those without umbrellas onto those with umbrellas. If you have 70% of people with umbrellas in the same space 30% of people will still get wet and some of that water will splash onto people with umbrellas. If you have 95% of people in the same space holding umbrellas, there's so many umbrellas that the 5% who don't or can't have one can still walk along under everyone else's umbrellas and not get wet either. No one gets wet and there's no side splash because there's so many umbrellas that you've created a shield against the rain. That's the same concept behind vaccination. The more people who get vaccinated the better protected the community is, but they don't become their most effective until you get the right amount of people vaccinated. For coronaviruses like sars, mers and SARS-CoV-2 that magic number is 95% vaccination. Once you get there you eliminate the pathogen from your community because it can't create a reservoir and dies out. I understand that you're afraid, but there really truly is nothing to be afraid of. There aren't any conspiracies going on, no one is trying to harm you, the vaccines aren't experimental (in fact the platform AstraZeneca is built on is 20 years old). All medicines carry some risks with them. AstraZeneca is 100x less likely to have a serious side effect than common medicines like the oral female contraceptive. You're 2500% more likely to be injured in a car accident to or from getting vaccinated, than you are to develop any kind of serious side effect from vaccination. I hope you do your duty not just to your community, or country but to the species by getting vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2

How were the participants selected? It's a relay so how were the teams comprised? Who is the organising body? What's the point of this event? None of the important questions to cover this story were covered.

  20. They're not denying anything. A referendum was held, the Scots voted to remain in the union. End of story. Sturgeon just wants independence so she can have some actual power. You could hold another referendum tomorrow but if it came back no again Sturgeon would just demand another, and another and another until it came back yes. Referendums aren't cheap, and they get in the way of actually governing. At a certain point you have to take the result and leave it there. Maybe they'll get another go next generation or something if they want.

Almost all of the inflationary pressure occurring across the west is due to those two countries. It isn't a coincidence that inflation skyrocketed in countries sanctioning Russia when they sanctioned Russia. Perhaps try to understand Russia's role in the UN, trade markets and the global financial system. If you do you might understand why these sanctions against Russia have only hurt we in the west, whilst Russia has shrugged them off. If you really want a laugh, look into what happens if China and Russia split the global financial system in two by creating their own system. Something they are actively working together to achieve after these sanctions. Stop listening to yankvilles propaganda narrative, or Russia's for that matter and start understanding how these systems really function and what is actually going on.

  27. These aren't Belarusians, they're Syrian refugees trying to get to Germany because Merkel invited them in 2015. They're not just transitioning through Belarus, they're going through Ukraine as well. They're still trying to get through Turkey, but because Turkey has stopped the flow many have moved north to cross which is why we're seeing them go through Ukraine and Belarus. The EU, through Poland, is currently committing not only violations of EU law, but human rights abuses under international law. What the EU is doing is shameful.

Things aren't normal, the tourism industry can't just pretend otherwise. It's going to be YEARS before things are back to normal, many tourism operators won't be able to hold on, that's just reality. They need to face that reality instead of making things worse

It's disingenuous to compare cO2 levels in 2020 with 1750, a 270 year span particularly in simple percentage rise on a new report attempting to contextualise it against a current rise. EuroNews knows good and well that most viewers won't catch on that you're talking about a comparison between last year and 270 years ago before we had any kind of industrialisation, and when only one in five children survived beyond five years of age and smallpox still existed. Those stats don't demonstrate a higher ppm concentration than the years immediately preceding and EuroNews know it. Indeed if you compare 2020 with 2019 we see a reduction in cO2 ppm due to the wind down in industrial activity last year. EuroNews knows that because they covered it last year.

  41. Yes, the only reason any country gets involved in another country, ever, is to preserve their own national interests. There has never in the history of humanity ever been a situation where one country got involved in another genuinely on human rights grounds. No one actually cares about human rights, every country is free to violate human rights however they like within their own borders. I'm including al actions in being involved in another country too, not just physically being there. Economic sanctions, tariffs and embargos, trade blockades, political rhetoric, all of it. It's only ever about national interest.

Risk posed to end user depends entirely on what measures are proposed. If for example you give law enforcement the power to monitor europes internet traffic at the individual level, that's clearly an infringement of privacy. If you're giving law enforcement the ability to reach into private servers and remove malware, monitor or alter them without authorisation from the owner that's clearly a problem. My examples are just that, examples to highlight how security measures can be harmful, and not necessarily something being proposed. You have to actually report what's being proposed
