  1. Yes, the only reason any country gets involved in another country, ever, is to preserve their own national interests. There has never in the history of humanity ever been a situation where one country got involved in another genuinely on human rights grounds. No one actually cares about human rights, every country is free to violate human rights however they like within their own borders. I'm including al actions in being involved in another country too, not just physically being there. Economic sanctions, tariffs and embargos, trade blockades, political rhetoric, all of it. It's only ever about national interest.
