Comments by "TJ Marx" (@tjmarx) on "Rotten rivers: why is raw sewage dumping still allowed?" video.
The major parties are, that's for sure. Voting in independents at the next election would shake things up and get things done.

What is going on with these two women in the report? They know raw sewage is being dumped, they continue to swim through what they know to be raw sewage then gleefully exclaim "We swam through other people's sh**!" followed by laughter. Do they not actually comprehend what they're doing, or what? It's always so unhelpful when someone sees a privately held business making profit and says something dumb like "we can use those profits to fix the problem". Back in reality, any costs you impose on a privately held business will be passed to customers directly and those profits won't be impacted. If anything they'll use the whole exercise to raise prices higher than needed to cover the newly imposed costs to increase profit further. Understanding that reality is key to dealing with private industry. Anyone claiming you could force private business to pay through their profits is out to lunch and has no business being in government. Utterly appalling that for 60+ years this has been going on and it's only in the last 3 that anyone has thought to try to resolve the issue. Disgusting political grandstanding today. Good on Philip Dunne.

3. 3 years. Because Philip Dunne only became involved 3 years ago and it wasn't on ANY politicians radar regardless of party affiliation prior to Dunne. What's happened is, for more than 60 years of Labour, Tories and Lib Dems no one has done anything about this issue. No one has even thought about it in the last 20 years. Until Philip Dunne. He made a big thing about it and insisted something be done. Now something is being done Labour and Lib Dems are engaging in politically grandstanding that it isn't enough when they haven't had any policy on this for the last 60 years and they wouldn't make the changes they're grandstanding on if they were in government anyway.

@diogenesPL That's not how any of that works. This isn't Soviet Cuba.
