What's not being discussed in this video is that it isn't a problem isolated to the UK. It's been a global phenomenon for 2 decades now that the industry lacks adequate new drivers to keep the industry afloat. As older drivers retire out of the industry every developed country is going to face a reckoning where there is a shortage of drivers. That's why the industry globally have invested so heavily in automation. They're looking to move away from reliance on drivers at all and towards AI driven HGV. Ironically that makes the problems now worse because there's no long term future in truck driving for youth today. It isn't reasonable to blame it on a single domestic political party because if we're being honest it isn't confined to a single nation and there realistically isn't much a political party can do.
