  3. I gave this monologue a chance, I watched it through. At no stage did I see him "destroy" either Sunak or Starmer. It's quite easy to do, and yet, I did not see it done here. What I saw instead was a man detached from reality and devoid of any material insight. An activist, talking from the perspective of activism whom invokes science he in fact does not understand. The science does not say leave the oil in the ground. The science says emissions are created by unceasing population growth and to not strip this planet like locusts on a field we need to first reduce population globally to one eighth it's current levels, then and this is perhaps the most critical part, stabilise it there. 6 decades the science has been saying exactly that, loud any clear. But as the activists use all the things they claim to oppose on a daily basis, we never, not once, hear what the science actually says uttered from their mouths. At times we hear him make somewhat conspiratorial claims, demonstrating either a deep misunderstanding or mischaracterization of the facts. Politics is not dominated by the "dirtiest" industries and society wouldn't vote them out of existence if given a chance. We have a chance, all the money in the world won't stop someone voting an industry out of existence if that's genuinely what they want to do. HE might vote them out of existence if HE was given a chance. His activist buddies might do the same. But the general public, no. People like their lifestyles as they are and that's why the average person so easily opposes the activists. To pretend £3.5M is much money in a party donation is misleading to the extreme. There are far higher donors with competing interests. Let's stop pretending otherwise. Oh no, Sunak is richer than the King. I guess that must mean he's a bad politician. 😂 I guess this guy never stopped to consider everyone in parliament is rich, and the richer you are the less you need to rely on the donations of others and hypothetically at least the less corruptible you are. Sunak comes from banking. His father in-law is in technology and has direct links to the Indian government. There are many things to admonish Sunak on but his wealth as it relates to environmental activism isn't one of them. Indeed his financial self interests and those of his father in law are generally aligned with those of environmental activists. If anything, they probably should be celebrating Sunak. Oil is used for more than just burning. Significantly more in fact. The device you're reading this comment on would not be possible without oil, or more specifically petro-chemicals. It's the same story for the data centres, wires and infrastructure in between that enables youtube and the broader internet to exist. The camera used to film this and the computer used to edit it wouldn't be possible without petrochemicals. Your house is covered in petrochemical, it's furnished with petrochemicals, and you wear them as clothing. You rub petrochemicals in your hair and if you're into make-up you wear them on your face. Solar panels, wind turbines and electric vehicles of any kind would not be possible without...petrochemicals. Feeding 8 billion people would not be possible without petrochemicals. The lens in his glasses are coated in petrochemicals. They're used quite literally everywhere. Oil isn't going anywhere and new exploration for oil will be necessary for the foreseeable future even in a world without combustion vehicles. It's a similar case with coal btw, which is used as the carbon source, called coke, in high quality steel. Steel which does not use coal has serious problems so for the foreseeable future coal and new coal mines will be necessary even in a world where it isn't burned for electricity. This misunderstanding of the ongoing need for these resources is why people don't like activists such as "Just stop oil". If you want to have a meaningful impact in the environment you have a powerful option that you do not need government intervention to take. Simply do not have children, encourage others to do the same. That will have an immense and tangible positive impact on AGW.
