"I'm not paid for manual dexterity and my soldering ability" - The people paying you $325 to repair their products would say otherwise. The irony is that it's vendors like this that are literally the reason apple gives for not having a wider third party repair infrastructure.

Louis Rossmann You're also a guy in a tiny repair shop. Apple has how many customers? What percentage of that is your customer base? There would be a massive problem if you did have class action lawsuits against you in that context. People as a general rule don't tend to open their products up to check the soldering after they've trusted a repairman to fix it, if they knew how to and had the time to do that they'd probably just learn to fix it themselves. So of course filed complaints will be low, small customer base plus a very small percentage (if anyone) checking afterwards. As a repairman you are getting paid for quality workmanship, which in this case my friend IS soldering. That is literally what you are paid for. Companies like iFixit are examples of what it looks like to get paid to figure things out, they don't actually repair anything themselves. The moment you start repairing electronics with soldering, yeah, you're getting paid for your soldering skills and better bring them every day. That kind of flippant attitude about quality of workmanship you display in this video is as I say precisely the reason apple give for not expanding the third party repair infrastructure. That doesn't mean apple aren't lying about their reasoning but while vendors who don't take care exist on scale in the market apple will continue to be able to make that claim and have it be plausible.
