Yes, video game developers have been rendering games purchased by the end user inoperable upon pulling the server plug for more than a decade at this point. This is why we warned you all about online gaming as a core or key function of a game with no offline capacity. Wait until you find out about the way they do licencing these days where to even load the game it has to check the dev server so even a completely off-line game can become unplayable if the dev pulls support. The government aren't doing anything unusual. This happens to open petitions at every election. No the petitions won't automatically be reopened after the election, however there is nothing preventing you from opening a new petition at that stage.
