If Uber drivers are employees, then they should be regulated as Taxis. They should also be required to undergoing interviews, background checks, etc before being able to be an Uber driver. This could very quickly go sideways for those unskilled people trying to use the gig economy as defacto employment because they can't manage to get a traditional job. People wouldn't be trying to work Uber full-time if they actually had options. It was never intended for that kind of use. What do this union think they've got as leverage? If union members walk out what do they care, fewer cars in the area mean more surge pricing events.
