In order for a species to continue at least one, if not both, of the potential parents needs to have a strong drive and urge to mate. It is basic biology. If no one has a strong drive to mate the species will undergo a population collapse like we see with Pandas.

  27. "romance" has always been around. you can even see it in chimpanzees, e.g. male chimpanzees giving random females meat from a successful hunt. it doesn't sound massively romantic, but it is a big gesture given that meat is a scare and expensive resource (similar to a diamond ring today).

There's no need staying in the relationship and letting her continually extracting value from you. Marriage is a complete disaster for men from a value extraction point of view.

  31.  @大きな魚-g8b  men and women both love opportunistically. men love opportunistically to get physical intimacy. women love opportunistically to get resources and good genetics (e.g. chad / tyrone). relationships are just a value exchange. men would not invest into relationships if they got nothing back. i agree with you that the concept of lifelong wife, soulmate, etc are very unlikely in 2023 for most millennials and Gen Z. relationships work best short term. women like short term relationships hence the reason they file for divorce and initiate break ups.
