  2. Myth -- sunny desert areas are the best for solar PV energy. Problem with desert areas, like Arizona, is dust. Dust constantly accumulates, and it reduces energy production by electric panels. In residential situations, the homeowner can clean it off with a hose, using precious water. But, this takes time. In areas with rain, production may be reduced a bit by clouds, but rain clears the panels and the air. Production is maintained with no assistance from people.

  3. The world has changed in 10 months. The major assumptions in this video are no longer true. 1. The movement of manufacturing from China to India, Vietnam, and other SE Asia countries will lower China's GDP. 2. China's abuse of visitors has made China an undesirable location. So, both business and pleasure travel to China will plummet. 3. COVID has collapsed air travel around the world. 4. Boeing still hasn't gotten past the 737 MAX problem. Boeing may have to design a new plane from scratch.

  4. The problem with war is that its memory fades, and countries become more open to war. I wonder if Egypt will become for authoritarian, and warlike in the next decade, just as Turkey has become??? Note how Turkey seems to be looking for a war. It has inserted itself in the Armani/Azeri war. Can Egypt go the same route??

  5. This global network of bases is fundamental to our military strength. Many videos on YouTube, and people everywhere will think that the military weaponry determines their strength. They will compare F-22 vs Su-57, or M1 vs Armata, or ships vs ships, etc. But, it is the military bases that allow these assets to project their strength worldwide. Even if China or Russia miraculously had the same number and kind of ships the US Navy has, their navies would still not be able to project that power worldwide like the US can. Same with our Air Force and Army. This global base structure is fundamental to our power.

  8.  @ExternalInputs  Manufacturing is growing fast in both India and Vietnam. Companies around the world, that had set up manufacturing in China, are moving manufacturing to other regional countries -- like Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, and India. Japan, specifically, is moving out - Japan is paying its companies to do so. Samsung is moving out. I expect that process to continue, and even accelerate.

  9. Naval Power = World Power --- is true ONLY if the country is a maritime country. That is, a country that exists probably on an island or peninsula. Europe is a peninsula of peninsulas. So, that mantra is true for European countries. HOWEVER -- China, India, Mongolia, Persia, Mali, and others were NOT naval powers, and yet they were among the most powerful nations in history. I wish people would not be so Eurocentric in their thinking.

  10. WIth the continuing drop in solar prices, I expect oil prices to stay low, as demand will not rise, but actually decrease in the long run. By 2035, electric cars will be a significant percentage, and by 2050, they will be the dominant type. The decreasing cost of solar will force closing of power plant from market forces, not government policy. So, airlines will benefit from low oil prices forever.

  12. Regarding oil prices in the future: Since I was a child, oil was considered a declining resource. We were "running out", and prices were going to rise dramatically. Well, we have more oil than we ever did. We now know that oil was laid down all over the world in the continental shelves during the Mesozoic. There is lots of oil yet to be discovered. SO>>>>> 1. oil prices are NOT going rise dramatically because there will be lots of oil for the next several hundred years, at least. 2. Global Warming is moving us to move to renewable power. Already, most new power plants worldwide are for renewable fuel, not carbon based fuel. Cars are moving off the gasoline engine. By 2040, most cars will be electric. By 2050, almost all will. Therefore, fuel prices for air planes will stay quite low - probably forever.

  15. China has another huge problem --- As sea levels rise due to global warming, the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhedgiang and Shandong which include Shanghai will be inundated. They have a low elevation. A rise of 10 to 15 feet will displace tens of millions. An eventual rise of 30 to 40 feet would displace 100's of millions. Could China cope with significant sea level rise??

  16. Your analysis of China's motives for the South China Sea is wrong. Seriously wrong. 1. Trade is ensured by peace. China has not been restricted in its trade thru the SCS or anywhere. 2. To whom does the SCS trade go to??? Well, US and EU mainly. In case of war, these countries would stop imports from China by policy. A naval blockade would not be necessary. 3. Another argument made for SCS control is access to resources, like oil, which are there. However, oil is freely available on the open market, and could even be gotten from Russia if needed. So, what is the real reason for China's need to control the SCS??? First, China does not want mere control over the SCS --- China wants to make it sovereign territory?? Why?? Simple, so China can control who uses it, and all trade of OTHER countries that use. IF China made the SCS sovereign territory, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Japan, Taiwan, and SK would have their trade controlled by China. This would make ALL those countries client states to China. This is not merely an attempt for China to gain "security". This is an attempt for China to achieve TOTAL REGIONAL HEGEMONY. Japan knows it. India knows. Vietnam knows it. That is why all three partake in naval exercises each year. US is often included. (Yes, US and Vietnam in joint naval exercises -- imagine that!!)

  17. Oil supply will NEVER be a constraint on oil production. There is too much oil reserves on continental shelves around the world, that have not been tapped, yet. Oil production will peak, when demand falls. Each year, electric cars are becoming more common. Same with trucks. In 30 years, many predict that the world's energy will be mostly from renewables. What videos like these do NOT address are the geopolitical impacts. The US & Europe have guaranteed the Saudi government. The ME had the attention of the world. When oil becomes unimportant, so too, will the ME become unimportant. The Saudi family will be on their own,, as will all the nations there. People of the ME have complained about the US and Europe intruding on them. Well, I wonder how they will like it, when the ME is ignored by the world??

  18. After the break-up of the Soviet Union, Russia was welcomed into the community of nations. Trade and investment welcomed. Companies invested in the Soviet Union. Many helped to develop its resources. Europe bought its resources in the assumption (hope?) that peaceful trading relationships would grow. Russians were allowed to buy western stocks, and companies. Some even owned sports teams. Putin has destroyed all that. Putin is bringing Russia back into the isolation of the Cold War. After Putin is gone, and the Ukraine War over, the west will not be so welcoming. Europe won't let Russia be a major supplier of anything strategic. Russia's role as a major supplier of energy to Europe is over. Russia's participation in financial markets will be limited. Full normalization will take time. Until Russia can prove it has made the transition to democracy, and shown that it will stay that way, it won't be fully accepted.
