The real story of Gojira was not the monster, but the scientist that was on the horns of a dilemma -- 1. Kill Godzilla, and let the world learn of the horrific weapon, or 2. Don't use his weapon and let Godzilla live, and keep on destroying people. Gojira ended with a truly Japanese solution --- 3. Kill Godzilla with his horrible weapon, and die with him, so the secret of his weapon is kept truly secret. Godzilla is merely a protagonist that creates a situation that must be dealt with. It is the solution to that problem that is the TRUE story of the movie. Next WATCH it with your eyes and mind open -- and understand it is a JAPANESE film, with its culture as its foundation.

Considering that Russia & China have hated each other since the Mongol invasion, the real question should be "How did the Soviet Union & China become allies?" And, "How long can a Russian/China alliance last?" Xi now openly claims the land Russia took in the 1850's, and where Vladivostok is. Can they ever be true friends??? Sure, they both have a problem with the US. B U T . . . US is far away, and Russian & China are on the same continent they BOTH want to dominate. Therefore, the Russian/China relationship is guaranteed to be competitive, fractious, and dangerous.

Russia (west) and China (east) have fought over central Asia for millennia. Russia & China are natural enemies, not friends. Both Russia and China have acted since 1917 as if Europe and US was their enemy. Europe did have designs on China, and the western powers did try to stop the Bolshevik takeover in Russia. US sent troops to Russia to oppose the Communists. So, their antipathy to the US and the West is understandable. HOWEVER, in the long run, they will be enemies. China has already declared that it wants Vladivostok back, and that they are an Arctic power, which can ONLY happen if China takes Siberia. Who owns Siberia will be the BIG question of this Century, I believe.

Winston Churchill was a real war hawk. He loved war, as this operation shows.

@whathell6t But those were just kids movies. They lacked the high purpose and profound dilemma of Gojira's scientist.

@whathell6t I saw Gojira several times. I also saw a lot of the other monster films that came out of Toho -- Rodan, Mothra, etc. I did not see the ones you mentioned, though, I figured they were the same childish fare that the post-Gojira films were. I find it interesting that it seems the Japanese don't recognize the uniquely Japanese aspect to Gojira. But, that is why Gojira stands above the rest, and way above the American cutting of it.

@whathell6t Yes, I said I did not see those shows. Please read comments completely.
