  1. You can buy 4 Rafales instead of 3 Typhoons. Being so close in capability -- getting 4 planes instead of 3 planes is a huge difference

  2.  @llamudos9809  Since India purchased S-400 anti-air system from Russia, India would not be allowed to buy the F-35, just as Turkey was not allowed, even though they were one of the original backers of the F-35.

  3. I recognize that Russia has good designers, and make good planes and weapons. HOWEVER -- with a GDP smaller than Italy, Russia cannot afford what it designs. A handful of SU-57's, and then they stop production. The vaunted Armata tank - production delayed for years. Meanwhile, over 3000 F-35's will be delivered to the US military and another 500-1000 to our allies. And we update several thousand M1's to the latest version in just a year or two. Some great leader said, "Quantity has a quality all its own". It will never be air duals between lone fighters. It will be wings and squadrons of fighters. So, how about 200 F-35's against 40 SU-35's. Who wins that scenario???

  8. One question I have about the systems of US, Russia, and China is how well does each country maintain their air defense assets?? If not well maintained, can't they lose their effectiveness? Russia, for instance, has had a bad record in maintaining their naval ships. Do they do a better job on their air defenses?? China has reputation of poor maintenance of assets. I would love a video that can shed light on this --- if well informed.

  10.  @llamudos9809  An F-35 + Gripen mix would be very interesting. The Gripen has some very interesting features and capabilities. For one, it can operate using highways as runways. It has a good turn around time, so you can fly more sorties/day. It is well networked. I like the Gripen alot. Pairing it with the F-35 --- I wonder how that would work. BTW..US is pairing the F-35 with F-15's and F-18's.

  15. I think radar and avionics tell the story today. The plane with the better radar & avionics will win, since that pilot will see and fire first.

  17.  @sekoundiaye3239  Actually...no they don't have radars that can target F-22's or F-35's. J-20's were tracked by India, but then the J-20 is likely not a true stealth plane. Rafale, I heard is pretty close. The thing about stealth is to see, target, and kill an enemy before they can do the same to you. It does not mean that you can't be seen or tracked in all situations. But, if you can kill the enemy before they kill you, and then get the hell out of there...they you survive, and they don't.

  19.  @anonyw2993  If you are India, you should not EVER be able to get F-35, since India bought S-400 missile defense system from Russia. Although, building a cooperative, if not allied, foreign policy and military relationship would be so profound, that we might ease that restriction for India (we did NOT ease that restriction for Turkey.) Seems to me that it is the avionics, radars, communications, etc that really make a plane successful now. I think that with the right electronics and radars that a C-130 could defeat an SU-35. If it can see it first, target it first, and fire first, then why not kill it first??

  20.  @anonyw2993  Sounds great. Indonesia needs, IMO, several P8 Poseidon sub hunter and reconnaissance planes. India has bought some. Being an archipelago, I think Indonesia needs them more than anyone. Also, the Japanese US-2 seaplane would also be of great use to you. BTW...I think Russia is falling behind in battle networking. The Gripen is good at it, I believe. I don't know about Rafale.

  21.  @anonyw2993  Huh?? How could Australia stop Indonesia from buying P8 Poseidons from US?? The US does check for Australia's permission, as far as I know. India has bought P8 Poseidons from US === so why not Indonesia?? It is a reconnaissance airplane. Why would Australia oppose that?? BTW -- does Indonesia see Australia as an enemy?

  24.  @Bronzer1991  Agreed. In fact, I am sure there are situations where any of those fighters, or the F-15, or F-18 is the best. We have entered the era where the aerodynamic ability of a fighter is no longer most important. The sensors and avionics are much more important now. Also, the missiles that can be used is critical. I don't think we have access to the details needed to judge.
