You say that Taiwan is China's main goal. I don't think so. Taiwan is its short term wish, and is important for its propaganda and stated ideology. But, taking Taiwan would not be nearly as useful as taking Siberia. Much of Siberia once belonged to China. And, we know how China likes to use old maps to make claims. The Global Times recently said Vladivostok and other areas of Siberia belong to China, and that China will come and get them someday. Do you think that was written in jest?? China is serious. China will come for Siberia. I think that will happen in about 20 to 40 years. Depending on how fast Russia declines, and how isolated it remains.

By 2050, or 2060 at the latest, China will have taken Siberia. Probably all the way to the Urals. China wants the resources, and has the men, money, and machines to exploit them. Meanwhile, Putin is weakening Russia. Russia won't have the energy to resist China. Russia will be too tired and aged to resist.

@SwapnilRupanwar Exactly, Russia took land when China was weak. The CCP wants it back, and more. They want resources. It is about more than ego.

I think Xi will help Putin, but not for the reasons you say. I think China has long term ambitions to take Russia's Siberia. They want Vladivostok, Kamchatka, Irkutsk, Yakutsk, Lake Baikal, and the Ob River. China has stated it is an Arctic power. How can China be an Arctic power, if it is not in the Arctic??? China is greatly benefitted by Putin's war. Russia is being used up. It's military is exposed for being unprepared, unmaintained, untrained, and poorly led. Ukraine barely has a functioning military. Ukraine is mostly a large, well motivated, civilian militia. Regular militaries normally sweep militias away. At the end, China will be the master, and Russia the servant. China will own Russia. China will likely control Russia. Russia has made its decision to turn away from the Europe and the west. [Which is ironic, considering how Putin admires Peter the Great, the Czar that tried hard to make Russia part of Europe.] Now, Putin will be responsible for making Russia a satellite of China. This would be funny if not so tragic.

@marctemura2017 Not forgetting that at all. I think there is more at play than that. I don't think there is any doubt Xi will get his term for life. I think there is a much longer game than either his election, or the conquest of Taiwan.

@marctemura2017 Are you sure about that?? Xi and the CCP have shown great incompetence. Xi is an idiot. Everything he has done has hurt China, and created enemies. China is now ringed with enemies.

@marctemura2017 Don't go by what you hear, go by what you see. Biden has many enemies who will slander him. Look at what he has done --- 1. Made a Taiwanese as our Trade Rep that China has to deal with (not important, but cute.) 2. Build naval/air base in Palau 3. Established AUKUS. 4. Getting nuclear powered subs to Australia 5. Allowing higher level reps to visit Taiwan. 6. Constant Freedom of Navigation patrols in SCS and Taiwan Strait 7. Got NATO & EU lined up against Putin 8. Several arms deals with Taiwan. 9. Arms deal with Philippines. 10. Finally a president with the guts to end our debacle in Afghanistan. Biden may have his faults, but being weak is not one of them.
