  1. Banks and the entire financial system is based upon trust. China is facing a huge problem of people losing trust in their banking and financial systems. If (when) that happens, they will stop putting money in banks. They will stop investing - whether in real estate or securities. When that happens to countries -- portable valuables become desirable. Gems, gold, silver, jewelry become desired. They are portable, and people will hide them. I wonder how the gold and gem markets are doing in China?
