Yes, and so was Easter (named after the Celtic goddess of fertility. it is why the symbols of Easter are eggs and bunny rabbits.) and Halloween.

@MonsterKidCory Very correct., In English countries, the takeover of the Pagan festival was not complete. So, people wonder what bunny rabbits have to do with a guy getting killed. I think its hilarious.

@samsonsoturian6013 So, then how did the Celtic goddess of fertility become the name for Easter?? Easter is the name of the Celtic goddess? Christian holidays are mostly re-used holidays from other religions. Christmas came from the Saturnalia.

@MonsterKidCory Correct on All Saints Day. I was brought up Catholic, so Halloween and All Saints Day are related. Halloween comes for All Hallow's Eve. The night before All Saints Day.

@MonsterKidCory BTW -- did you know that Christmas comes from the Roman Saturnalia?? Both the date and the gift giving. BUT -- the Christmas tree comes from the Celtic or Germanic winter solstice where they celebrate life surviving through winter with evergreen trees and holly - an evergreen broadleaf plant.
