Your idea that low metabolism was part the reason for evolving armor is well presented. I tend to agree. Never heard that before.

Tuskless elephants?? Oooh, evolution is so smart.

And yet, there have been body plans that were unique, and not replicated. The plesiosaurs for instance. No Marine animal propels themselves in that manner. The hominid body plan seems fairly unique (and not very good, btw - we are the only animal that stubs its toes.) The Tully monster body plan hasn't been duplicated. That's about it. Yeah, convergent evolution is pretty common.

Oh, you mean those things that stab you in the back then suck out your guts??? Those are called Republicans.

AAaaahh, convergent evolution! That explains why all the aliens in Star Trek all look like humans in costumes. All sentient speces in the Universe will look like us from convergent evolution. Amazing.

Ricochetted off our moon?? Do you think astronomy is merely God playing billiards???

Although cats are having a problem, I think the bobcat and lynx are doing quite well. Of course, none do as well as the coyote.

@Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Against criticism of Trump and Republicans??? You cannot be the real AOC.

You did not mention pack behavior. Hunting and living in packs increases the flexibility and survivability of a species, IMO. Many dog species use pack behavior --- all wolves and wild dogs. While, among the felines - only lions live and hunt in packs (prides). Hyenas do, too. But, that's it. Could this be another reason for cats lesser success than canines in adapting to the modern world?

In the wild, canids dominate, but domestically, cats rule. Just ask any pet owner that has both.

Mystery -- Fish have scales. Reptiles have scales. BUT...Amphibians don't have scales. WHY NOT?? Amphibians evolved from fish, right?? So, why don't they have scales?? Also, aren't reptiles supposed to have evolved from amphibians?? If so, how did they get scales?? Did reptiles evolve scales all over again?? That seems unlikely. Or, did all amphibians lose their scales after reptiles evolved?? OR, did reptiles evolve from fish separately from amphibians?? That seems most likely to me, right now.
