  1. both tunnels draw because both lead to below the flame. The hot air rises to go out at the top of the tepee. If you want a chimney, it MUST be ABOVE the flame, and then rise from there. That probably would not work in a tepee. BUT, it does not matter. You have NO SMOKE because the fire is well supplied with oxygen, so it burns cleanly and completely. HENCE, no smoke.
