  1. The hypocrisy of Modernism. "Form follows function" is the Modernist mantra. Ever been in a Mies Van der Rohe office building?? Well, if you do, you will NOT see form following function. In the Federal Center in Chicago, the lobby is sterile and blank. For your supposed comfort, it has a granite slab to sit on. The granite is cold, and the form is horrible. His buildings are designed with humans as an afterthought, if the thought about them at all.
