  1. I wonder if the show is also for Putin. The military administrators show Putin that the soldiers are well equipped, well trained, and ready for combat. Putin then is led to believe that he has a top notch army, and makes decisions assuming that. I think that is also happening because Putin seems to really believe that he has a good army.

  3. Disastrous?? For Ukrainians who die, it is very disastrous. BUT -- for Ukraine as a nation -- it is turning out great. 1. Ukraine's national identity is now firmly established. Before the war, the question, "what does it mean to be Ukrainian", existed. Now, there is no doubt. 2. Ukraine's position in the world is now established. It now has trading partners, military partners, and Ukraine's commitment to democracy is unquestioned. 3. Ukraine's military is strong, and getting stronger. Before, that was a huge question. 4. Ukraine's leadership is admired around the world. Before, Ukraine's government and leadership seemed unstable and weak. Now, Zelensky is the most admired world leader today. Zelensky will be known as the Father of Ukraine. In the future, historians will view this war as the great foundational event for the Ukraine Republic.

  6. I am impressed with Russian armor. It is so flexible. First, Russia uses its tanks to take out Ukrainian land mines. Now, Russia uses its tanks to intercept Ukrainian missiles. Amazing!

However, there is more --- China also has claimed MANY times to be an Arctic power Which seems silly, since they don't have any Arctic land. Well, China will have Arctic land, if they take Siberia from Russia. Why would China take Siberia --- 1. China wants resources -- Siberia is chock full of resources. 2. Russia is declining and becoming financially dependent on China. 3. Russia has no friends, so no one will care if China takes Russian land. Russia is the perfect victim. 4. Because China wants it. Yes, it does. Siberia is China's precious. Yes, it is. China wants its pretty precious, doesn't it??

  9. This war is profoundly changing Ukraine. Before 2013, I am sure many Ukrainians felt a strong connection to Russia. Many travelled back and forth, and probably didn't feel there was much difference. Their languages were very close. They both lived under Soviet and Tsarist rule for hundreds of years. This war has changed all that. The deaths and horror inflicted on Ukraine civilians is profoundly changing their views and attitudes towards Russia and Russians. Ukraine has turned its back on its Russian heritage, and now identifies itself as part of democratic Europe. Ukraine is now lost to Russia forever.

  10. Wait a minute. Just north of the dam is the channel that takes water to Crimea. IF Putin blows the dam -- won't that lower the water level so that water would no longer flow to Crimea??   14. I don't think Ukraine need stop to digest what they have retaken. The army units used to re-establish government, police, and administrative functions are different from the front line battle units. The real reason Ukraine needs to halt for a little while is that Ukraine has gone past their battle plans. The army has to develop new plans. They now know that the tactics used are very successful. A new plan will quickly be created so the army can continue to defeat Russia.

  16. Agree with everything said. There is one more thing, that I think is even more important to the failure of the Russian army -- Kleptocracy. The Russian army has been looted and pillaged for 30 years. Training funds -- stolen. Maintenance funds -- stolen. Procurement funds - stolen, too. So, when actual fighting needed to be done -- it could not do it.

  18. I think Ukraine is doing great. Bakhmut is a continuing victory for Ukraine. Russia is doing all the work, and all the dying. Ukraine merely has to keep their Bakhmut troops supplied with bullets. When the time is right, I am sure Ukraine will execute a counter offensive.

  19. The last clip shows why Ukraine cannot lose this war. Russia has no soldiers with such determination, grit, and endurance. The longer Russia continues this war, the more Russia will lose when it is over. The longer Putin continues this war, the more profound will be the changes to Russia, when it is over. I don't see Putin surviving. If it continues for a long time, then the entire military clique will be destroyed.

Muslims from the Middle East will bring their anti-Christian and anti-freedom of religion attitudes. Many hate Europe, and don't see themselves as part of it.   26. Correct me if I am wrong. I believe the US Navy would have stopped and rescued the crew, if it had been close by. Isn't that a rule in the Law of The Sea?? Sailors should not be allowed to just drown and die, even if they are an enemy. After all, the US Navy rescued German and Japanese sailors that came from destroyed warships in WW2. So, Spain rescuing them was no more than what the US Navy would have done.

  29. Right now, the important work on tanks is being done. Ukrainians are in Poland being trained on Leopard tanks. They are being trained on the Challenger tanks. The tanks CANNOT be put into battle until the tankers are trained, which takes a few months. By the time they are trained, Ukraine will get the Leopard tanks, either from Poland or from Germany.

  33. You might be wrong about a military defeat of Russia. Economic success and military success are linked, since military actions cost money -- lots of money. As troops are not paid, or not supplied, they will stop fighting. And then Ukraine forces may have success more easily. Just today, Ukraine has had success in liberating large pieces of territory. I think Ukraines military success will accelerate. So, who knows? Ukraine just might succeed in driving Russia out of its territory.

  36. In a word - NO ! ! !. Ukraine has our full unswerving unending support. This is such a bargain for us. For less than the cost of one nuclear submarine or one carrier, Russia's military might is being used up, diminished, and maybe ended. Russia's might was mostly a residual of the Soviet might. Putin is using up that reservoir of equipment and power. The veteran soldiers and officers with years of experience have been churned up in the Ukraine meat grinder. And, all we have to do is give some equipment and ammunition. Such a deal.

Administrators are stealing left and right. HOWEVER, they also have responsibilities. SO, military administrators are lining their pockets, stealing money for maintenance, training, parts, etc. SO, when they have to put a army unit in the field, they have to show Putin that the army unit is equipped and capable (at least I assume that). So they present to Putin that the army is in great shape. So, the question is -- How much does Putin know of the degradation of the military?? I bet he has no clear idea.

He sees them operating like Russia, and analyzes them as if they looked at the world like he does. He wants to attack and conquer, so he assumes everyone else wants to attack and conquer. Hence, he feels the insecurity of Russia being attacked -- even though NO ONE wants to attack Russia. We are told he attacked Ukraine to get better defensive lines. Like I said - he is delusional.

Actually, it is something happens often with leaders of large companies. The CEO can become out of touch with how customers are actually being treated, for instance. Democracies change leaders frequently, so don't suffer from that as much, or to the degree that I think Putin is getting the "cordon sanitaire" treatment.

  41. IMO, our support for Ukraine is a HUGE bargain. Ukraine is fighting. All we are doing is passing the ammunition. This war is weakening Russia. Russia was a major world power in 2021. When this war is over, Russia will barely be a regional power. Its economy will be devastated. Its military will be defanged, with most of its equipment destroyed. This enables us to focus on China.

  46. The West, especially the US, will not abandon Ukraine. Why? 1. Our weapons are cheap compared to us actually fighting. 2 ATACMS is obsolete and is being replaced by Precision Strike Missile. It is cheaper to give them to Ukraine, then to dismantle them. 3. We have more Abrams tanks than we will ever use. Again, cheaper to give them to Ukraine than dismantling our excess. 4. The Ukraine War is sapping Russia's strength. 5. We are not stupid. This war is better and cheaper than any new weapon system. 6. Russia winning the war would be disastrous for the United States.

  48. Have to disagree with you on this. For the war to end by negotiation or surrender will require Putin to do either --- he won't. The military facts on the ground will dictate the end of the war. The mobilization will hurt, not help, the Russian army. Russia will not be able to stand up against the well trained Ukrainian army supplied with superior weapons. Added Russian troops will do nothing to change what happens. There will be more routs, and bigger defeats. At the end, Ukraine will be able to dictate peace terms to whatever government replaces Putin.

  49. You must listen very closely to diplomatic speech. Words are used VERY precisely. So US does not SUPPORT Ukraine strikes within Russia. What does that mean? It means EXACTLY what it says -- no more. Our weapons and money are not being used to assist in any way. Do we disapprove?? Not said. Do we discourage?? Not said. Do we object?? Not said.

Regarding America's attention span in foreign policy, I want to point out that when our Cold War policy and strategy was developed during the Truman Administration, that our Cold War policy was followed aggressively by each administration after that. Eisenhower, Kennedy, LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Carter, and Reagan continuously followed it. Even Carter put Viper missiles in the hands of the Afghans opposing the Soviet Union when it was invaded. The United States is remarkably steadfast in applying a strategy and a policy against our enemies. For a supposed student of history, Putin is remarkably ignorant of it.
