  2. Can the tilt mechanism every fail?? If it does, then how can it land? The propeller goes far below the bottom of the aircraft. If it tries to land without tilting the propellers up, they will strike the ground and cause a crash, I think. What could the crew do to survive??

  3. I wonder how stealthy. The externally mounted solenoids on the tails look far from stealthy. Also, the rear end around the engine looks very blunt and not aerodynamic, like the back end of a bus. I wonder if the RCS is known?

  4. The replies are strange. They say "chill dude", as if to say "don't ask questions". They seem to think that prototype means it won't have all the characteristics of the production version. WRONG -- a prototype MUST have ALL the aspects of the proposed production version --- OR --- it is NOT a prototype. DUH. Now, back to my question -- does anyone now the RCS??? If you don't know, don't comment.

  7.  @yourmomslover2288  Yes...and those prototypes have EVERYTHING the production version will have, unless they see some way to improve it. BUT -- all the rivets, controls, sensors, etc are all there. You don't say "well, its a prototype, so it wont be as stealthy, or wont be as fast, etc etc." Again -- You people don't know what the word "prototype" means, or how it is used in military product development. The word "prototype" is NOT a denigration. It does not mean "not yet developed". Prototype means the designs and technologies are in their final, or VERY close to their final design.

  8.  @michaeldurujovic9003  I wouldn't say that. I do question its stealthiness. But, if it is cheap enough, stealth may not be that important. The Bayraktur drone is not stealthy, but does a great job. Mostly because it is cheap, I believe. Cheapness is a value all its own.

  9. Stealth will be around, but I think stealth is going to go electronic. Instead of relying on materials, electronics will be used to confuse enemy electronics. It will be more difficult for enemy assets to target and hit our jets. I think it may eventually possible to create an electronic bubble around a craft that prevents the enemy from seeing or hitting it. That is, even a plane like a C-17, or an aerial tanker, could be made "stealthy" someday. i could be wrong, but that is the direction things seem to be going, IMO.

  11. Why is the Chinook so much faster?? How can a cargo helicopter be faster than an attack helicopter? Does that make sense to you?

  12.  @t3m3lkov85  I would think the rotor striking the ground could throw the plane out of control, and then crash. But, then, an engine failure on a helicopter is no better.

  13. I bet that carriers will be given energy beam defensive weapons, when they are perfected and go into production. I think that energy weapons are the best hope of defending against hypersonic missiles, and missile swarms. I wonder when that will occur??? Does anyone know?

  17. I don't want to see a future aircraft carrier named after Trump. I would like to see future aircraft carrier named like they were in WW2 -- after battles, and principles of our government. Like -- Yorktown, Lexington, Saratoga, Brandywine, Oriskany, Bunker Hill, Intrepid, Republic, Democracy, Liberty, De Regula Iuris (Rule of Law), etc. No more names honoring mediocre presidents.
