  1. For pottery, the MOST important thing is NOT MOVING around. Pots are heavy. No nomadic lifestyle for pottery cultures.

  2. You have it backwards. Becoming settled -- allowed pots to be useful. Pots are heavy and bulky -- not suitable for hunting & gathering. SO, first came then being settled, and THEN they started using pots.

  3. Mistake to think ALL hunter-gatherers were nomadic. The ones that survived to recent times were nomadic because they were in hostile lands. BUT -- hunter-gatherers in highly productive areas did not NEED to move around. For instance, those in the Nile valley, or Indus Valley, or Tigris valley would not need to move around. Game would come everyday to the river to drink and be caught. All kinds of plants would grow to supply vegetables and fruits.
