  2. EEZ's are still international waters. The country owning the rights can fish & mine. But -- all nations can transit without hindrance. China claims "Sovereignty" not EEZ, like the other nations.

  3. The host is also impressive in her speaking skills. She talks without script or teleprompter, yet her comments are well organized. Also, she speaks without typical "umms", "you knows", and other fillers that we normal people often put into our speech as we organize our thoughts. For that, she comes off as being very smart. Brains & Beauty - an unbeatable combination.

  4. Another question -- how do Assamese feel about Indians from other states coming in and taking jobs and land?? Can't any citizen do that?? Is regional prejudices and resentments a significant social problem in India?? I did not think so, but I guess it could be. From reading the news, I get the feeling that India is not as strongly integrated as I had thought. Is there a possibility that India could fall apart??

  5. Interesting. American here. I see that people in Assam seem to protest immigrants because they take land and jobs. How can an immigrant take land?? Don't they have to buy it? Or, can they just sit on it and take possession of it that way, without actually purchasing it??? If they can buy it, then wouldn't that infusion of money into the economy benefit everyone??

  6. This is odd. Very odd. The Quad is merely an agreement between the four countries to share intelligence. It is not (or at least WAS not) a military alliance. US & India have participated in naval exercises several times -- and NEVER was they described as "Quad" exercises. I wonder if this is not just the Indian press taking freedoms. IF -- India or the other nations are officially calling them Quad exercise -- that is a profound development.

  8. "Quadrilateral Joint Statement" -- that is curious. The Quad is not an alliance, or a political body of any kind. There is no "Quad" structure. It is merely an information exchange protocol. That joint statement says otherwise. Something is happening.
