If India would allow a joint India/US army logistics exercise where an American military unit is air-lifted with all equipment to an Indian military base, and then arrayed in military order with Indian units, showing readiness for joint battlefield operations. As powerful a message joint naval exercises are - a joint army exercise such as this would really show China that it has no hope in starting a war with India.

  2. US & India should do joint naval exercises that include a joint amphibious assault exercise. Such an exercise would show a profound power to China. Amphibious assaults are the most difficult military maneuver. By showing that India/US can do them jointly would show China how vulnerable their SCS fake island bases really are. It would also show a level of military cooperation that China has never seen. Eventually, I want India and US to become defensive allies opposing China's bully tactics at expanding their borders.

  4. No one stands with India because no one knows where India stands on anything. Are you with China? Maybe, on some things. Are you with US? No, never, except on some things. Are you with Russia? Yes, unless they do something really very bad. Then we just won't be with them very strongly. But, still with them. Sort of. India must figure out what it stands for, if it ever wants to be clear about who it stands with.

  5.  @dhiraj6727  Comes a time when you cannot remain neutral. To stay "neutral" is like saying that both sides have equal validity. To stay "neutral", India will be saying the death and dismemberment of a small weak democracy is OK. This is now a shooting war, and tens of thousands of Ukraines will die. Putin is threatening nuclear war. If India stays neutral, then India's non-support of democracy, fairness, and humanity will be noted. Many people like me have supported India against China, and have been encouraging the US to build stronger ties with India. Already, I vomit as India supports death of Ukraine. India and Indians only support themselves, and don't give a crap about other nations, or higher ideals like peace, justice, and democracy.

  7. No problem. No issue. US did not object. As long as they are outside the 25 mile territorial limit, Russian & Chinese war ships are legal and allowed. Similar to when US has a FON patrol in the SCS or Taiwan Strait.

  8. Zelensky's support in the west has never been higher. Zelensky has shown himself to be a great national leader. Probably the best the world has seen in decades. He is humble, hard working, and courageous. He visits battle torn areas all the time, encouraging his troops, and giving hope to his people. But, India only criticizes him. Shameful.

  11. So, Hindustan Times has now become a tool for Putin's propaganda. It gives Putin's propaganda with no context, or analysis. It does not report the atrocities committed, the targeting and killing of civilians, the destruction of hospitals & schools, and so much more. This is why, IMO, the US should NOT ally itself with India. India will not support the US in its effort to prevent China from starting a war. In this case, India is allying with China to support Russia. The fact that China recently attacked India makes no difference. India's anti-American attitude trumps its own situation with China. US should be very careful with India, unreliable, and fundamentally opposed to the US.

  12. The amount of anti-American hate spewed here is huge. Why all the hate? Why the approval of Russia that attacked Ukraine, and has committed war crimes? Why the approval of China that attacks India frequently, and recently claimed Arunachal Pradesh? It is obvious that when China invades Taiwan, India will support China. India supports China's taking Philippines and Vietnam's fisheries in the South China Sea, obviously. India has become Putin's and Xi's lackey. Shame. India had such promise.

  13. Putin sees the current world in ancient terms. The US helped birth the current world, and is a prime supporter of it. BUT, the United States does NOT have "hegemony" over it. We do NOT control it. We influence it. And we have a big say. BUT -- we do not control it. We do not, and cannot, tell UK, Germany, Japan, Indonesia, India, and all other countries what to do. We may ask. We may cajole. We may even offer rewards. But, we cannot order countries to do what we want. Hence, the US does NOT have HEGEMONY.

Only non-democratic countries jail politicians for criticizing leaders. In US and Europe you can criticize, ridicule, and laugh at their leaders. They hate it, but that is how democracy works. Not in India, obviously. Now, India sides with Chins (?) supporting Russia. India gives bogus silly reasons for not condemning Russia. But, this media's praise of Russia, and criticism of Zelensky shows the true position of India. IMO, the US should distance itself from India, including suspending the Quad. On this one point, China is right, India is not a reliable or good ally of the US. There is not a good fit between us.

  17. Duh. Of course EU's decision was politically motivated. But, that is GOOD. It is appropriate. The EU cannot let a country that will support a foe, to enter the Union. Besides, I don't think Georgia has proved itself to be a functioning democracy yet. Which is a requirement. HT's attempt to spin this a something wrong is ludicrous.   20. What drivel. Yes, the new tanks will cause logistical headaches. Tanks do that. The NATO tanks use common munitions. No problem there. The Abrams tanks will arrive in the fall, AFTER the Ukraine troops have been trained in the use, and maintenance. HT is a mouthpiece for Russian propaganda.

  21. Biden has NOT asked Zelensky to sue for peace. Biden has specifically stated that he will NOT ask Zelensky to do that, and that it is all up to Zelensky and Ukraine to determine how to handle negotiations with Russia.   23. This news is either wrong or has things out of context, depending on the point. Hindustan Times is a large Indian news outlet, I believe. It reflects the thinking of many Indians. Therefore, I conclude that Indians support genocide, torture of civilians, and the wanton destruction of hospitals, homes, and schools.

  33. India supports Russia killing tens of thousands, as it attacks and annexes part or all the Ukraine. India supports the destruction of a democracy. If India supports destroying a democracy, how long can democracy last in India?? If India supports tyranny and autocracy, how can democracy survive in India?? If Indians elect a leader who despises democracy, how much longer will they have elections?? And yes, India will be seen as an enemy to the west. Don't be too surprised if there are sanctions and other reactions. For instance, as companies move out of China, they will be wary of going to another nation that will take sides against the world trade order.   36. Interesting to see HT cheer Russia on, and celebrate every time women and children are killed. Hindustan Times enjoyed seeing thousands of Ukrainian children abducted into Russia. If HT speaks for India, then India has sunk into an abyss of genocide, cruelty, and horror. Should US distance itself politically and diplomatically from India??   38. I was wondering why so many pro-Russian comments, and why so many cheering for Ukrainian deaths. Then, I saw, Hindustan Times. That explained it. Indians back Russian genocide of Ukraine. Indians back authoritarian regimes. Even though China attacks India from time to time, through BRICS India supports China against the United States. I wonder - do ALL the readers of Hindustan Times want to see Ukraine destroyed, and millions of its people killed, as these comments indicate??

  41. Russia has NOT been raining artillery down on the battlefield. Their rate of fire has diminished a lot. Besides, it does not matter. Russia does NOT have smart guided munitions in great amount. Unguided artillery is basically useless today.
