US is PREPARING for a war with China, NOT planning a war. Big difference. Planning implies intent. Preparation merely means being ready IF one occurs.

@genocidegrand2057 Being a colonial power, did not sit well in the US. By 1935, the US was committed to granting PH its independence. It would have happened sooner, but Japan's war got in the way. Taking PH in the Spanish American War was a mistake. What is interesting is that the US did not take Cuba, which many in the US wanted. I don't know what happened there.

Yep. Rarely does the US "give" weapons away. I am not saying "never", but I cannot think of one time where the US "gave" weapons with no strings attached. In WW2, we "loaned" ships to UK, and UK had been paying those "loans" for decades. And they are good friends. We may have given the extra weapons we had in SK for the Korean War to the ROK. We have not made that a habit, though.

Is China really so powerful?? Look at how pathetic Russia's army is performing?? China copies the Russian model. Isn't it likely China's army would perform the same crappy way?? Doesn't China suffer from kleptocrats the way Russia does? I wonder if China's military ability is also exaggerated.

@kellrik66 No. You don't understand. EEZ rights are GIVEN by the UN. Philippines does NOT have to claim them. It merely exercises them. "Has claim to" is a crappy phrase. It is imprecise, and ambiguous.

@Youdontshushh Philippines had their EEZ rights before they sued China in the World Court. The World Court merely supported and validated the UN given EEZ rights of the Philippines. BTW -- it was NOT an arbitration. It was a legal law suit in the World Court. NOT an arbitration.

However similar Ukrainians were to Russians, the horror, terror, and death they are receiving from Russia will change them. This war will create a permanent divide between the two peoples. Never has there been a war between Ukraine & Russia. They have lived and fought together for 500+ years. There was a commonality between them. Putin talked that up, and used it to justify his war. BUT, after this war, Ukrainians will no longer feel Russian. They will no longer feel Russians are brothers. Russians will be their enemies.

IMO, the biggest threat is if China believes its own propaganda. If Xi and the CCP actually believe the PLA is invincible because they gave it a lot of new toys, that is the biggest threat. They will attack when they think victory is assured, and will be cheap. If China attempts to invade Taiwan - how do they stop Taiwan from making the Strait into a killing field?? I don't see how. If anyone can explain how Chinese invasion fleet can survive the crossing, intact, and no losses, PLEASE explain. I would like to see how that can be done.

One more point. You briefly mention mines, and then don't mention them again. Mines are VERY CHEAP, and VERY EFFECTIVE. Mines either sink ships, OR they delay operations until they can be cleared. Even if ships are not sunk, the delay will make the waiting ships easy targets for rockets. Taiwan has thousands of HF-2, HF-2e, and HF-3 missiles. How many troops ships do you really think will survive??

The separation of North and South Korea is profound, I believe. As such, little by little, over time they are both changing. In 1948, they were the same. The people were indistinguishable. North Koreans now, are culturally different from the South Koreans. Maybe not too much now. But, as time passes, the difference will grow and grow, until they are entirely different cultures.

Kudos to you. It must have been a lot of work. I am impressed by your dedication. What bothers me, is that all this is done without informing the American people at all. The average American citizen has no idea what our military is doing, why it is doing it, where it is doing it, and whether it benefits our country. Even those of us who are interested, and try to find out, end up not knowing much. This never ending secrecy is not healthy for our democracy, IMO.

Did you know that the star Polaris, or the North Star, is only about 2,800 miles from Earth??? Yep, its true. Here is the proof. I live in Chicago. The North Star is in the sky about 45 degrees up. If I go to the North Pole, the North Star is directly overhead. That creates a right triangle with 45 degrees at the vertices. In such a triangle, the height equals the base. Since it is about 2,800 miles from Chicago to the North Pole, the North Star must be 2,800 above the Earth at the North Pole. See?? Isn't math wonderful. BTW -- if you accept this prove, and that the world is flat, then you are nuttier than Walnut tree.

Yes. I find the constant equating EEZ rights with sovereignty rights to be quite irritating. Virtually all videos and reports confuse them. They keep equating China's claims of sovereignty to PH, Vietnam, and others claim to their UN mandated EEZ rights. It diminishes China's illegal claims, and their warlike intentions. For make no mistake, IF China exercises those claims --- it will commit acts of war. Stopping a country flagged ship on the high seas, which the SCS is, is actually an act of war. So far, as China has done that, nations of the world have been tolerant. That will not go on forever. One day, a ship will not submit, China will fire on that ship, somebody might be killed, and then there is an incident.

Clarification --- NATO is a DEFENSIVE military alliance IT is NOT an overall military alliance. IF one member starts a war, or goes to war, the other members have NO obligation. The obligations of the NATO alliance only OCCURS when one member is ATTACKED. This is an IMPORTANT difference. NATO is only a threat to Putin if he ATTACKS a NATO country.

China invents paper and printing. Europe invents publishing, novels, Universities. China invents gunpowder and rockets for display. Europe invents the wheel lock, matchlock, flintlock, cartridge, pistol, revolver, breech loading cannon, howitzers, artillery, etc etc. China developed silk The west developed nylon, rayon, Dacron, polyesters, etc. China developed Imperial rule - Only the Emperor has rights. His rule is total. Courts are an extension of the Emperor's will. The west developed representative democracy. The citizens have rights, vote administrators in and out of office. Courts get their rights and powers from a Constitution, which is a reflection of the will of the people. I am so sick of the East's adoration of their past of Imperial rule, palace coups, and untold luxury based on the subjugation, exploitation, and impoverishment of the people they are supposed to rule. Putin is in trouble partly because of his adoration of Peter The Great. He may have been great in his era, he would be a thug in ours. Xi is leading China to ruin because he idolizes Mao and China's emperors of old. The world has moved on. Economies have moved on. Nations do not relate with each other like they did in the past. Economies are not as isolated or independent as they were in the past. Putin is finding out that war cannot be conducted as it had been in the past. Those countries that do not keep with the modern world, will be left behind. They will be impoverished, and left with their memories of what they were, and maybe wonder what they could have been.
