The appointment of Barrett could end up being the Republican's Pyrrhic victory. Since Roe v Wade, the issue of women's health care and equality has been off the political stage. Women felt protected. They were comfortable. Over 70% of women support R v W. Now, if the Supreme Court turns extreme right wing corporatist, where citizen's rights are destroyed, THEN...the electorate will look to Congress to protect them. That means, that they will elect more Democrats. Republicans are owned by corporate interests, and by the evangelical extremists. They are against anything that benefits the common person. Health care, education, national parks, clean air, clean water, cheap medicine, etc... If something helps people, they are against it. So, to protect themselves, people will turn to the Democratic party. Laws will have to be written so that a corporatist owned and controlled Supreme Court won't be able to destroy our lives and our country.

We NEED National Police Certification. A Certification that will be required for employment as a field gun carrying police officer in every force in the country. Loss of certification would mandate loss of job. Loss of certification would prohibit hiring by ANY police force in the country. Today, when officers are fired for abuse of their authority, they quickly and easily get hired by other forces in the country. They get to abuse new unsuspecting populations. Certification would stop that. PLUS, revoking certification is easier than criminal convictions.

Republicans don't like inspections, regulations, or oversight. These dams failed because of lax inspections. unenforced regulations, and no oversight. Republicans will blame the residents for living there. Republicans never take blame or responsibility, and they never bring solutions. Michigan suffers from Republican domination of that state.

Videos exist with police inviting and encouraging the rioters to enter the Capitol building. Those members of the force should be fired, and tried for dereliction of duty, and maybe treason.

The "investigators" are already dismissing the selfies taken with the rioters, and inviting them inside. This will be a whitewash. The Democrats in Congress are cowards, and have no intention of defending our form of government. We will witness the end of our Democracy in next few years, I fear.

Cannot compare China's problem to Japan in the 80's. Japan did not change the structure of its economy. It dealt with a normal cycle. China is profoundly changing the structure of its economy and institutions. China cannot cycle out of its problems.

I have a Kellogg MBA. \ You do NOT want a CEO as President of the United States. A CEO does NOT work for the good of the workers. A CEO works for the investors - the people with the most money. Elon Musk wants a CEO as President, so the President will work for him and the other billionaires. They already act like the own our country. No need handing it over completely.

Support international rules?? Not when they defy the UN and the international court by claiming the South China Sea as belonging only to them. Wanting cooperation? Not when they threaten war to so many countries - US, UK, Australia, India, Taiwan, Japan, Sweden, Vietnam, Philippines, and Canada. (Sorry, I am sure I missed some.).

It is a mistake to look at current oil prices to figure out what will happen to Saudi Arabia 1. Renewables are slowly eating away the oil marketplace. 2. Saudi Arabia is ruled like a medieval kingdom. This causes great strains on the society -- strains that will eventually explode. I feel the reforms are too little, too late. Similar to the reforms and freeing the Serfs that Russia tried to do when it "liberalized" in the 1870's. It was too little, to ward off a revolution 40 years later. BTW ..carrying that analogy -- Russia lost the Russo-Japanese War, and Saudi has lost the Yemeni War. 3. The financial strains on the Saudi family will be too much by 2025 or 2030. 4. Building up the military was a mistake. Sending it to war, where it learns to fight, and then learns that the Saudis don't mind the deaths of soldiers will build resentment. Resentment in a group that has guns, and knows how to use them. I wonder how long it will take for the Saudi army to realize its power???
