You must be talking about Europe, and other places that are not North America. Here, I pay $3.50/gallon for gas (petrol), which is about $0.90/liter. That is not high enough to stop driving. What is the cost in Europe??

I don't think it will last decades --- for 2 reasons --- 1. The market will respond. The tar sands wells in Canada will be re-opened. Other wells will be brought online, and oil exploration will be expanded. 2. Solar energy, both residential and commercial, will become much more popular. In 10 years, the installed capacity will start having a strategic impact, IMO.
