I don't see how the EU will survive another 20 or 30 years. I don't understand how the EU can function without a central government, yet have a common currency and a common fiscal policy. The EU members will be divided into perpetual winners and losers - with Germany being the main winner. Germany may end up being the only winner. Building resentment will eventually make that unworkable. Greece, Italy, Spain will all eventually want out -- in fact, they will NEED to exit or face revolution. Eventually, Europe must decide whether they want to truly unite and become a real united country like the United States, or to fracture back into their pre-WW2 countries.

Renewable energy and electric vehicles will continue to expand, AND that expansion will accelerate. Even without climate change as an impetus, the inherent financial advantages of the those technologies will propel their increased usage. However, as the understanding of the consequences of global warming and its speed become better understood, the world will determine that we must move to a 100% fossil fuel free energy infrastructure globally ASAP. I think the countries of the world will institute policies and penalties so strong that even India and China will be forced to shut down their newly built coal plants. They will do this or face world trade isolation. I don't know when this will happen --- I just know that it must happen.

BTW...a renewable energy global infrastructure will profoundly change world geopolitics. Oil exporters will find their main resource of no value. Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Venezuela, and others will have to find other means of creating valuable export products and services. Russia will have a huge problem, since they make nothing anyone wants except Vodka. Saudi Arabia will no longer have their monarchy protected by world powers. No one will care. The pipeline of Wahhabi money financing world terrorism will dry up. Al Shabbab, Boko Haram, Al Qaeda, and other Wahhabi financed organizations will shrink and finally fail.
