My girlfriend and I (she was a women's studies student in the late 90's at McGill in Montreal, she was very smart. Gave me Chomsky's Fateful Triangle which was my introduction to middle history and politics!). Anyways, she was adement that gender discrimination WAS the number ONE issue facing humanity and its ability to fight against oligarchy as it affects over half the world. I agreed that it was clearly an issue BUT not the most important as class issues literally affects everyone not wealthy, 75% of the world's population which is overwhelming class underrepresented AND More importantly, by making gender, or for that matter, race and or whatever minority is not represented rather than class pits. Our priorities, resources and sympathy into a hierarchy of grievance which separates all of us to the advantage of the upper class. Her answer to that was I was a white man and so I couldn't understand the plight of others and my response to that was that is how a black man may feel about her feelings on gender issues and so on and so on and so on. However, the one thing that most of us can agree on is that we clearly being exploited by the ultra wealthy and that until the opportunities presented by reducing or eliminating class divide would allow for space to further reduce and hopefully reject all forms of bigotry rather than the whack-a-mole of Justice. I knew things were going to get worse as the benefits to the upper class and media propaganda were too rich. Not to push as economic policies for the center left are dangerous as they affect the donor class but identity politics is perfect as it delivers, nothing tangible but is highly evocative of emotion and can deliver empty victories. It just got worse than I ever could have imagined and I struggle to see how we are able to get past a generation of young adults raised on the idea that we live in a classless society and are only separated by identity. It's frightening S***.

Ok, So, I'm subscribed to your substack which pretty much ensures that I'm on the list of people to be round up the moment The establishment feels threatened in any manner. I'm also equally certain that my sacrifice will be more or less meaningless as I'm not an important or religious person so there's no reward in this life or the next life. I do it for for a couple reasons, the first is I've had an exceptionally good life at the beginning and it's because of the people who fought and died like my grandfather, who was a deeply disturbed man as a result of his time in world War II. His sacrifice is why i had such a b****ing time for the first half of my life! I'm clearly owed nothing from here on in as the beginning is the best part and if you can live it relatively free means you've had the better part of reality that 90% of people have never experienced in the first place. The next reason is for the children of my friends, family, strangers. My government has paid to murder and or was complicit in their murder. I owe them a debt that can never be repaid, but at least only completely outside chance that anything means anything whatsoever. I can say I did the very very very very very very very very least possible in terms of trying to help. Like I said, I don't believe in God + I'm pretty sure that no Good deed goes and unpunished but the truth is I can't leave this world knowing that I didn't do anything except for stuff for myself. Regardless of the fact, that there's no great accountant in the sky adding and subtracting our Good deeds. My debt is being born tall, white & blue eyed, moderately good looking, moderately intelligent and some say a little bit charming at times which despite my best efforts i haven't totally destroyed yet and therefore i still owe a profound debt to the civilization that has allowed me to rise well above my considerable laziness and inability to account for the many, many, many advantages given to me at birth. I will obviously never be able to repay that but if I can at least not make it horribly worse. That is the very, very, very, very least I can do as a person with a weak and an immoral attitude towards society.
Thanks Chris, every time I hear you speak I can't help but think I have to at least try and pull my s*** together, despite how depressed I am about everything, including my general weakness towards what I see as the inevitable.

If Bernie would have been elected President, the DNC, RNC, media & the Blob would have formed an evil Voltron, that would have destroyed him by first the usual smears, then scandal, then Law-fare and if that didn't work he would have been MLK'd by a "lone wolf." I'm sorry, the sad reality is that we shouldn't be thinking about a better politic but understanding that we are in the early days of France before the Nazis takeover & the DNC is the Weirmar Republic 2.0 who are going to be more than happy to let the Nazis Waltz in, in order to protect their wealth and privilege?
So much so they'd rather be waving the same fascist flags, then ever consider the slightest reduction in the standard of wealth and or status that the DNC will gladly send whoever they need into the gas Chambers. Just look at Gaza for your evidence?!?! Therefore, the only thing that makes sense is the Panther Party (based on the organizational style Black Panthers, it doesn't matter what the name is, so long as it represents a group that is dedicated to something larger than electoral politics and actively works within communities to help poor and working class people survive The inevitable onslaught coming.) or something similar to it where money, time, resources that have been previously wasted on a system specifically designed to waste your time, energy, and resources on a party that clearly hates you towards preparing for what comes next.
This is a deeply unhappy and unpopular thing to say, but it's absolutely true as the bottleneck of climate catastrophe is upon us and when it tightens this will be used as a pretext for fascism. They'll use that algorithm to see what we've posted on comments to know which people to round up first and it will be the fourth Reich of a thousand years that they've always planned. However, If we build a credible alternative for the people who are inevitably pushed out, as the pie becomes smaller and smaller, as it has to in order for neoliberalism to flourish, the numbers will get bigger towards us as those people will have no other choice. When a critical mass occurrs there will come a time when it will be decided not by the ballot box but by something much more visceral as it's requires the masses as any major change in society will require a group IDEALOGICAL commitment by those same masses.
Unfortunately, if they can end your movement by just shooting your leader then you don't have an actual movement because THEY will. Just like MLK, Malcolm x, JFK, RFK, MILK and SOOO many progressives from around the world, however, if it's a system of ideas where we are all leaders than it can't be simply decapitated.

I'm trying to find a path that the bare minimum does the least harm possible. Chris hedges is a true inspiration because unlike Chomsky, mierscheimer, Jeffrey Sachs, Glenn Greenwald (*except Briahna Joy Grey of Bad Faith podcast who wears her heart on her sleeve and doesn't give two s** about what is politically expedient or what is going to make her popular or money and even her safety which does actually f**** concern me?!?!) and many others in the Independent sphere of journalism, hide his moral center is at the very core of his journalism and he wears it not just as a badge of honor (and let's be honest, he'd never actually wear any badge of honor as he's far too humble, but I'd gladly put it on him!! ) but as a moral compass directing his raison d'etre which you can feel with every word he says. Chris hedges is one of the few people in this entire world that makes me feel that it's not only possible to change things BUT that unless you are at least trying, you are not only complicit in these ongoing war crimes by the US government & their groupies BUT an active participant (Even the different groups of aggrieved people just in one country, let alone every country throughout the entire world, is too long to list here BUT the fact that he NEVER, EVER "GLOSSES OVER" THESE CRIMES here or anywhere else in his journalism tells you that he has always put the interest of people over his own career. I know that he would never, ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever under any circumstances admit to how MUCH money in the truckloads, that they offered to bring to his house, just to tow the party line. I think it's an important time to remember the history of the most influential, successful, anti-Imperial, anti-capitalist, pro-worker organization ever in America, the Black Panthers, why they were formed and specifically what happened to them.
First, they formed as a result of the police in America being so corrupt and racist that they could indiscriminately beat and murder black people pretty much anywhere, whatsoever, that it necessitated some sort of organized political and or security structure to fight back, which they did as a group with a great aesthetic to boot! They armed themselves legally which coincidentally prompted Governor Ronald Reagan to help implement the first gun control laws in America (If you want gun control, arm, every black man in America). They organized themselves, while also reaching out to the broader community to establish protection from not only the police but also general crime that the police refused to address. They then implemented various community programs such as education, medical programs, business, food programs for everyone in their community.
It did not go unnoticed, as protecting your people from state violence can not under ANY circumstances be tolerated.
"In 1968, FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover said the Black Panther Party "without question, represents the greatest threat to the internal security of the country." And with that declaration he used United States federal law enforcement to wage war on the group. "

The obvious result was that everyone from the Black Panthers was either murdered, imprisoned for life or turned into an informant to destroy not only the group BUT more importantly the credibility of the movement broadly. So, just to be clear on the stakes of any endeavor that's challenging power at this level; is if you ever organize anything that's actually successful enough to genuinely threaten The Establishment's iron grip on absolutely everything, whatsoever, lest the bad apple of community solidarity ruins the batch of corporate Oligarchy. You should expexct swiftly and without remorse the same results, if not considerably worse, given the fact that they are burning hospital ridden children alive. Those are the stakes you're playing for and unless you are very clear about that, you not only do a disservice to the mission but also endanger people who aren't prepared for what's coming next and because they don't understand what's at stake, they may further undermine the group as a whole through no fault of their own.
Sadly, the general public believes that there is such a thing as the rule of law, human rights, a legal framework for accountability on government's power that could at least slightly constrain the worst elements of a rogue security establishment's most depraved acts of illegal violence..............they are incorrect and allowing their ignorance to continue turns them into victims of a war they never signed up for.
The system works and it won't stop working until everyone's dead and they own everything. Unfortunately, that's just how it is and it's time we start to address it as such.
Unfortunately, class war is still a War (regardless, personally, I am still a conscious objector to any forms of violence as it only begets more violence). Therefore, it has casualties, collateral damage and massive losses to the side that is losing which is the Left to be clear. Without the acknowledgment of those odds and consequences, you cannot begin to build a credible plan to fight or win let alone survive.
It may be that some people are willing to sacrifice their freedom for decades, their wellbeing or even their lives for the greater good but groups like the CIA aren't as respectful as the Mafia and will 110% involve friends, family, children, lying & fabricating evidence as they have no limits on ANYTHING WHATSOEVER AND ANYONE STARTING TO CHALLENGE THEM MUST BE TOLD WHAT THEY ACTUALLY FACE.

The South America Columbian President's quote at the U.N. about "Palestine, being the past, present and future of South America," is correct and as I've been saying for some time, Palestinians are the canary in the fascism coal mine.
Once we normalize genocide in Gaza & the climate catastrophe unfolds into a pretext for fascism to address the obvious issues that are inevitable as a result of the climate catastrophe. The genocidal war machine, once completing the example of the benefits of genocides while also serving proof that it can be done, will be exported to the next inconvenient people sitting atop the resources & or land. As the Establishment MUST consume developing nations raw resources without adding anything to their economic development as the lifeblood of neoliberalism is using those raw resources for added value profit BUT more importantly, denying those nations people the ability to not only profit from value added products rather than resource extraction that only enriches the elite of that country BUT more importantly excludes the type of Professional managerial class (PMC) that type of economic development would increase this class of people who would be the ones that could not only help further develop the economy & help train other generations of people who could further develop the nation's economy and resources. Worst of all, it is this intellectual class issue of the PMC that would be able to organize and fight back against the absolute obvious, exploitation of their Nation. Most importantly, the West has learned that they have to always exclude the PMC of any developing nations from any process, as they understand the mechanisms of exploitation which makes them extremely dangerous as they can articulate it to the masses.
Eventually, genocide WILL be exported everywhere, until it MUST be brought home as ALL citizens will eventually understand that they will have received NOTHING from the constant murder of civilian communities around the world and then even racism won't be enough to satiate the blood lust, then it will be turned on anyone who doesn't cheer for the murderers and so on..........

Let's address this NOW?!?!?!? VOTE 3RD PARTY! OR: WHY I'M NOT AFRAID OF TRUMP'S SECOND TERM and why I'm more afraid of being complicit in the genocide of Gaza, rather than all the horrible stuff that Trump will probably do BUT that the DNC will also likely do, even if its slightly less. (let's remember that Biden ran on an immigration policy that wasn't barbaric but then completely changed and supported laws that are not legal under international law the moment things became inconvenient)
I'm starting to think a second Trump presidency might be in everyone's best interest?!?! Seriously. If Harris is elected then everyone gets to go back to brunch and pretend that democracy is ok. The reality is that we can boil the climate frog slow or fast but it's going to fry either way. HOWEVER, if the fire is stoked purposely by the actual Left, it would tell the Corporate Democrats that breaking almost every promise has consequences or if we are really lucky, public awareness that the duopoly will not only not save us!!!! BUT IS ACTIVELY WORKING AGAINST ALL WORKER'S INTERESTS (Even if you make $100,000 a year) and force regular people to understand that after the Palestinians/LEBANESE, it WILL EVENTUALLY BE the country their families are from next. I'm sorry, the sad reality is that we shouldn't be thinking about a better politic but understanding that we are in the early days of France before the Nazis takeover & the DNC is the Weirmar Republic 2.0 who are going to be more than happy to let the Nazis Waltz in, in order to protect their wealth and privilege?
So much so they'd rather be waving the same fascist flags, then ever consider the slightest reduction in the standard of wealth and or status that the DNC will gladly send whoever they need into the gas Chambers. Just look at Gaza for your evidence?!?! Therefore, the only thing that makes sense is the Panther Party (based on the organizational style Black Panthers, it doesn't matter what the name is, so long as it represents a group that is dedicated to something larger than electoral politics and actively works within communities to help poor and working class people survive The inevitable onslaught coming.) or something similar to it where money, time, resources that have been previously wasted on a system specifically designed to waste your time, energy, and resources on a party that clearly hates you towards preparing for what comes next.
This is a deeply unhappy and unpopular thing to say, but it's absolutely true as the bottleneck of climate catastrophe is upon us and when it tightens this will be used as a pretext for fascism. They'll use that algorithm to see what we've posted on comments to know which people to round up first and it will be the fourth Reich of a thousand years that they've always planned. However, If we build a credible alternative for the people who are inevitably pushed out, as the pie becomes smaller and smaller, as it has to in order for neoliberalism to flourish, the numbers will get bigger towards us as those people will have no other choice. When a critical mass occurrs there will come a time when it will be decided not by the ballot box but by something much more visceral as it's requires the masses as any major change in society will require a group IDEALOGICAL commitment by those same masses.
Unfortunately, if they can end your movement by just shooting your leader then you don't have an actual movement because THEY will. Just like MLK, Malcolm x, JFK, RFK, MILK and SOOO many progressives from around the world, however, if it's a system of ideas where we are all leaders than it can't be simply decapitated.

The DNC is controlled opposition, who are actively planning against the interests of working people, it's not that the DNC made a mistake or are misunderstanding when it comes to strategy or goals. Their SOLE purpose is to block the Left, reward the donors, while avoiding accountability. FULL STOP. PERIOD.
Using that as a framework, did the DNC actually lose 2024? Bernie's movement is dead, ALL the DNC leaders kept their positions, ALL the DNC donors got deregulation & massive tax breaks, DNC gets to shift blame for Gaza/Ukraine (while still managing to help murder 100's of thousands of innocent people) on the Left, collapsing infrastructure & inflation on Trump and BEST OF ALL, after 4 more years of Trump terrorizing normies, they will be begging for the next warhawk corporate DNC candidate. "Liz Cheney for President 2028!?!?!"
So! If the DNC'S REAL agenda was actually to block progress, reward donors & consolidate power, was the last 50 year's of Neoliberal destruction of the middle class a failure or a massive success for the DNC's "good billionaire's?!?!"
Clearly we've entered the Weimar Republic 2.0, as the Democrats will acquiesce to any of Trump's most depraved horrors to safeguard their privilege and wealth. Sound familiar!?!?
