  6. WALKING IS HUGE! I tell people about how important this is in the management of diabetes, but it also has so many other benefits. I've went from 240lbs and a 15.7 ac1 to 160lbs and a 6.9 ac1 (I was able to get it down to a 5.9 but unfortunately I got divorced, Covid made my business lose a quarter million dollars and then my wife left me so the stress was unbearable and my diet suffered as a result but I'm trying again). It's really hard to explain it without sounding like a lunatic LOL! While doing my research it always came up and it seems so obvious but nothing has contributed more to my recovery than this except for not eating sugar. When I did the research it all came back that our bodies are designed to walk to the desert or the Savannah 12 hours a day everyday as our ancestors did. I was fine while I was working a super physical job but I got a desk job and 5 years later I got diabetes after putting on a bunch of weight. Now, try to walk after every single meal even if it's just 5-10 minutes. This gets your metabolism up while also lowering blood sugar overall + I'll do a very long walk at the end of the day which helps me sleep as well as keeps my blood sugar down for the evening so that I don't have as much a spike in the morning. Lastly, This isn't spoken about much for some reason but stress is a major contributor to your blood sugar going up or also remaining high regardless of The food you are eating. Walking is a major way to bring down your stress hormones as it's a gentle form of meditation/exercise, I personally try to either listen to music, podcasts but only for subjects that are positive like history or a comedy podcast, whatever just not anything stressful.  Totally brings me down 30% of what my post meal blood sugar high after every walk of 45min. LASTLY! Berberine (type of vitamin B) before each meal has really been a game changer. Look it up as It's not for everybody, but if it doesn't mess with your other medication then it's super helpful and should be further explored.  Hope that helps as I know what a struggle this is for everyone. Especially when things get hard, because it's one thing to know what you're supposed to eat and quite another to have to eat it every single f**** day, for the rest of your life LOL!!!
