Better to ensure that Smith can ALWAYS prioritize the Foreign Corporations lining of her Party's pockets, than to ever consider even a small amount of dignity for the people who actually hold Alberta together, because without them there'd be nobody to pump that sweet black liquid gold into all those foreign pockets?!?! Over 70% of all oil industry is owned by foreigners & that money is removed from Canada & is minimally taxed, while most of the cleanup is mostly paid for by Canadians. If it was actually a national project, that Canadians mostly benefited from that would be one thing. However, most of the conservatives want Canadians to pay for all of the development and then take a loss so that they're foreign partners can get it on the cheap, while paying a minimum of taxes. TMX pipeline, with original purchase cost + build cost almost $40 billion and took 13 years to build with a projected loss of an estimated loss of 15 billion to taxpayers BUT at least Alberta is thankful for forcing BC to take its resource to tide water over the objections of almost HALF the population of Vancouver right?!?; I mean, Alberta never shuts up about how the Federal government PAID to ensure its main resource was accommodated over BC, the municipality of Burnaby, the objections of multiple indigenous leaders, multiple treaties of trade on carbon expansion, against the will of literally every single environmental groups & as a result, Alberta is happier with Canada than ever!?!?! The system works.

I live in a major city and I tried to explain to my friends from other countries that if you drive an hour outside of any of these cities that you will see what Canada is actually like, small-minded, cruel, petty, racist, xenophobic, homophobic and generally mean. The kind of people who complain about small businesses going out of their towns while drinking the world's worst coffee at Tim Hortons next to the Walmart that they just bought everything from. That's not everyone out there, but I'd say at least a hardline 30% and another soft 30%. The other 40% are what makes this country amazing and are who our grandparents fought and died for in world war II, but unfortunately they don't vote as much as the people who are motivated by petty cruelty. The system works. P.S. I'm sure Poilievre will be PM soon and will accomplish nothing he's been talking about while things get worse but these same people won't notice so long as he's cruel to the poor, drug addicts and the mentally ill or disabled.

However, Trump is ONLY allowed to start a trade war without Congressional approval, IF it is "security" related, hence the nonsense about drugs coming from Canada. He intends to extort Canadians to enrich certain corporations and himself at the expense of average Americans. Oil will be exempted because he understands that most Canadian Conservative politicians will gladly sell out the rest of Canadians to ensure that their donors in the oil industry are still profitable as that's who they actually serve (* you can't get a cushy corporate board seat after politics if you didn't deliver the goods). Clearly his advisors explained that perhaps his new riding of Battle River-Crowfoot might not appreciate the fact that his old riding was completely ignored once they were no longer deemed useful to PP electorally, LOL?!? Even though they gave PP, his electoral stature to date for the last 20 years, obviously they no longer served a purpose anymore, so there's zero point in acknowledging them or anything whatsoever in terms of his time there, as it's only a reminder now of his total failures. Still, PP must have been told that letting his old constituents know that they don't have any value whatsoever, once they've proven that they can't further his career and therefore should be ignored obviously, is the worst message possible to his new constituence that he is trying to parachute into LOL! With any luck we can force a minority Conservative government, so that Poilievre can't sell out Canadian trade policy without having to at least bring it to the other Parties, which is unfortunately the only way to hold Pierre accountable for his capitulation to Trump's America first policies or selling out Canadian workers to international corporations.
