  15. Listening to Trudeau makes my skin crawl, however, I've never been a fan of the conservatives either as I remember the Harper government. They gave some upper class tax cuts for soccer mom's, petty cruelty service cuts to the elderly, disabled and veterans (& of course the usual losers but that just makes them break into my stuff more) So I'm curious as to what you think electing a conservative government will do specifically for Us? As far as I know, everyone making less than $100,000 gets a carbon CHQ (I make over the cutoff so I have never seen a check. I'll actually get a tax break), once the cons are elected people won't get that anymore as the cons have said they're going to end many programs and they're going to slash government spending which generally means that you will be paying more for services while also not receiving the carbon chq anymore either? So just in terms of a day-to-day quality of life situation, what do you actually expect will be the difference? I know Pierre said he'd make it possible to buy a home in Vancouver where I live by "stopping the gatekeepers" which sounds cool of course cuz who doesn't want that but it doesn't actually make any sense as it doesn't say how? I mean do you think Pierre is having homeless veterans put into the house next to his place LOL!? I get hating Trudeau is enjoyable cuz he really sucks bad but I just don't see how the conservatives are any different? Pierre Poillevre was in government for almost 10 years and didn't deal with any of this except deregulation of oil and gas industry that allows the pollution of rivers and lakes which is fine I guess but that's less than 10% of the economy?(*Over 70% of major shareholders in Canada's largest oil companies are foreign so most money leaves Canada) Great for his donors I suppose but even when they did it last time housing still went up almost 50% on his and Harper's watch? Anyways, I'm really hoping I'm missing something because this isn't looking good, feels like we're going from the frying pan and into the fire. Please give me ANYTHING TO HOPE FOR, PLEASE!!!!!!!! Good luck everyone & Thanks!

  35. Just remember that Polllievere voted for FIPA trade agreement with China in 2012 and Trudeau ratified it when you think there's a difference between these two. Both Liberals and Conservatives represent Corporations not Canadians. The record of Pierre's time in the Harper government tells the real story, here's some of the details. Canadian governments are locked in for a generation. If Canada finds the deal unsatisfactory, it cannot be cancelled completely for 31 years. China benefits much more than Canada, because of a clause allowing existing restrictions in each country to stay in place. Chinese companies get to play on a relatively level field in Canada, while maintaining wildly arbitrary practices and rules for Canadian companies in China. Chinese companies will be able to seek redress against any laws passed by any level of government in Canada which threaten their profits. Australia has decided not to enter FIPA agreements specifically because they allow powerful corporations to challenge legislation on social, environmental and economic issues. Chinese companies investing heavily in Canadian energy will be able to seek billions in compensation if their projects are hampered by provincial laws on issues such as environmental concerns or First Nations rights, for example. Cases will be decided by a panel of professional arbitrators, and may be kept secret at the discretion of the sued party. This extraordinary provision reflects an aversion to transparency and public debate common to the Harper cabinet and the Chinese politburo. Differences between FIPA and the North American Free Trade Agreement may offer intriguing loopholes for American lawyers to argue for equal treatment under the principle of Most Favoured Nation. Does that sound like "FREEDOM" to you?

  125. it's like 9/11, Netanyahu let it happen to terrify people into letting him destroy civil rights, undermine the supreme court and ensure that there is never a 2 state solution. The system works. Hamas attacking Israeli civilians as a form of collective punishment for their support of the Israeli government is totally unacceptable so the United States supports Israel's collective punishment of the Palestinians which is totally different........ Obviously Hamas attacking innocent women and children as collective punishment for the Israeli government's cruelty should be met with indiscriminate killings of innocent Palestinian women and children. Israel is responsible for the deaths of 82 Palestinian children since 2022 (murders only, doesn't include the 80 children who died today from IDF bombs or from lack of access to medical treatment or nutrition). However, they're brown and Muslim so it doesn't count, therefore you won't see Palestinian parents crying on the MSM for their murdered children (just to be 100% clear, these children were not involved in any crimes, just collateral damage). This doesn't justify terrorist killings of Israeli's but to pretend that this is an unprovoked attack is ridiculous. Sadly, extremists in both Hamas and Netanyahu's governments have caused the deaths of so many people. The unqualified support of Israel"s apartheid regime has added to this this horrific loss of life. Western nations need to demand better from both sides and withhold funding until immediate changes are made.

  128. Let's all remember that CTV is owned by billionaires and that they hate the liberal/NDP coalition government and have supported the conservatives and their tax breaks for billionaires in almost every single election. I'm no fan of the Liberals, but let's be honest, the conservatives are going to give tax breaks to the ultra wealthy (mainstream media), service cuts to everyone else, slightly less mass immigration (look up the numbers, the Cons are almost exactly the same on immigration) and of course petty cruelty to anyone who needs help like veterans, the disabled or anyone else who can't help the conservatives get more power and money. If you don't believe me, look up their record or I can send it to you if you want. I understand hating Trudeau, he's a bumbling imbecile but sadly Pierre is something much more dangerous. Pierre is actually very smart and he knows how to manipulate people into voting against their own interests. Don't get me wrong, I get that people are going to do that anyways because they are grossly ignorant of the facts of Pierre's voting record in the 9 years of the Harper government & it's relentless support of corporations and the ultra wealthy. But eventually those choices will come home to roost and people will remember why they kicked out Harper and almost 10 years of debt-ridden government broken promises. Sadly, it'll be after Pierre sells off a bunch of important Canadian infrastructure/land just like Harper did on his last year in government to the highest bidder in order to pretend that he balanced the budget (could you imagine selling your house and then having to rent it from the new owners while telling your family that the balance sheet looks good as your money goes to the landlord every month?!?!).  The conservatives ran out the back door with bags of money (Cons foreign minister Baird literally left government & worked for a Chinese billionaire and a f##$ing Gold mine. It's f**** cartoonish?!?!). Clearly, Pierre is one of the greatest snake oil salesman of our time, even more depressing is that the Canadian people will have to pick up the tab as always on the back of working Canadians. P.s. had Trudeau actually ended first-past-the-post system (FPTP) which he campaigned on and then didn't bring in proportional representation because it allowed Liberals to rule unopposed is why we are going to have a majority conservative government (last time it was 34% of the electorate that voted for conservatives but won a majority )even though the overwhelming majority of Canadians actually don't support that. I understand how much we all f**** hate Trudeau, he is a selfish, entitled horrible piece of s*** that has doomed Canada for the next generation because of his selfishness to conservative corporate rule. F*** Trudeau I hope he gets rectal cancer. The system works.

  131. Have you ever noticed that PP's solutions are always the ones where Canadian taxpayers reward the industries that specifically donate to PP's campaign to the tune of multimillions, also seems to specifically benefit his particular base of power in the populations that support him specifically? He also seems to be just fine with throwing dairy management + a lot of the priorities of the East coasts industries under the bus as they don't generally tend to support conservatives (just for the record, I like Canadian dairy, milk, eggs, look it up as we get a higher quality product for a better price as I don't want a bunch of chemical hormone garbage that Americans flood our market with). Don't get me wrong, obviously oil and gas is extremely important but let's keep in mind that it's still less than 10% of GDP and the other 90% of the country is more relevant in terms of business and jobs. Also, my concern with PP is that he and Danielle Smith have made it abundantly clear that they will prioritize their people first at the expense of everyone else and considering the fact that NAFTA was originally negotiated under a conservative government which screwed Canadian businesses & workers in the first place so that doesn't't exactly inspire confidence that PP's not going to be willing to throw most Canadians under the bus again to protect himself, his donors & corporate donors again?!? Liberals are terrible BUT at least they have votes everywhere in the country, even some in Alberta + is therefore less likely to do what Danielle Smith did by agreeing to whatever Trump says. Even though he broke his promise less than 3 days later!?! Not encouraging......

  149.  @COMICSandpoetry  hmmmmm, well you may not consider the execution of 3 of Israel's own citizens (soldiers no less) who escaped Hamas, that stripped naked, so that it was 100% positive they didn't have explosives & or guns on them and that they weren't "Brown". They were clearly identified as white citizens who's lives "almost" mattered BUT nope....... Hannibal directive. The 3 Israeli hostages (soldiers) patiently waited until they had identified an IDF Battalion who they'd clearly identified in what could only be imagined as the most harrowing moments in a person's life, standing in your underwear, waving a white flag and hoping for the love of Jehovah, your fellow soldiers may show you the mercy they hadn't in slaughtering every man, woman and child in Palestine as they were AT LEAST WHITE?!!? Nope, the Hannibal directive meant execution for captured soldiers BUT as Trump said, he likes the soldiers that didn't get captured! ! Obviously Trump, never having served because of his "bone spurs" twice, Deferred his service to his country twice so never had to put his own theories to the test as other Americans did who fought and died for their country. You know, suckers and losers......... Regardless, the 3 Israeli hostages as soldiers knew to take time almost naked in an escaped hostage situation to ensure that they had time to identify themselves, not only naked and therefore not a threat without weapons, clearly screaming in Hebrew no less, w/white flags so that they understood they were not a threat as obviously of all, they were white European Israelis?!?!?! Unfortunately, the Hannibal directive was used, dead men tell no tales.

  232.  @daves1420 have you ever noticed that PP's solutions are always the ones where Canadian taxpayers reward the industries that specifically donate to PP's campaign to the tune of multimillions, as well as also seems to specifically benefit his particular base of power in the populations that support him specifically? He also seems to be just fine with throwing dairy management + a lot of the priorities of the East coast industries under the bus as they don't generally tend support conservatives (Also just for the record, I like Canadian dairy, milk, eggs, look it up as we get a higher quality product for a better price as I don't want a bunch of chemical hormone garbage that Americans flood our market with). Don't get me wrong, obviously oil and gas is extremely important. But let's keep in mind that it's still less than 10% of GDP and the other 90% of the country is still relevant in terms of business and jobs. My concern with PP is that he and Danielle Smith have made it abundantly clear that they will prioritize their people first at the expense of everyone else and considering the fact that NAFTA was originally negotiated under a conservative government that's screwed Canadian businesses & workers doesn't't exactly inspire confidence that he's not going to be willing to throw most Canadians under the bus to protect himself and his donors again? Liberals are terrible BUT at least they have boats everywhere in the country, even some in Alberta + is there for less likely to capitulate when it's convenient like conservative done in every other trade agreement.

  282. Conservatives and Liberals both sold out to China Just remember that Polllievere voted for FIPA trade agreement with China in 2012 and Trudeau ratified it when you think there's a difference between these two.

  318. I believe that the fallout from all of these tariffs is going to hurt Canadians very badly, regardless of whoever is in government & they are going to be blamed no matter what they did or didn't do. Therefore, I have a massive concern about the Liberals winning by a hair and then getting slaughtered a few years later by the inevitable massive recession that's coming regardless as to who wins or what agreements they make. As I personally believe the Trump organization is tanking the economy on purpose for a variety of reasons (homeless people don't protest, bankruptcies make for cheap housing BuyBacks that can be turned into rentals, etc). When that happens, nobody is going to remember that PP is a trump wannabe, as PP will just say that he was right and that if you elect him he can make all of their problems instantly disappear. You have to remember that most people are borderline mentally challenged and when under duress they will believe any snake oil salesman who promises a better tomorrow, regardless of the obvious faults in their logic. That's why PP needs to win a minority government, if he does, then he has to work with the NDP which more or less guarantees that he can't do anything crazy and PP will own the inevitable recession. This will inevitably give enough room to the Liberals so that they can credibly say things have changed and Carney can come back with standard neoliberalism, Rather than PP's hyper neoconservatism that sells out the larger Canadian economy, all for oil and resource extraction. I can't stress this enough, if Carney wins and eeks out a 3 or 4-year government, he is going to own the inevitable massive decline in the standard of living of Canadians. When that happens, all of the sad, stupid desperate people who watch the world's most concentrated media of billionaires in the world. Will eventually elect PP in a electoral super majority that allows him to ram through every single possible horrific, conservative wet fever dream, I'm talking destroying all of the CBC, bring back the death penalty for fentanyl dealers, life sentences for drug offenses, DOGE'ing the federal government, a complete militarization of the Canadian Army where we buy f-35s that don't actually work to the tune of trillions, dissolution of the FPCC (Farm Products Council of Canada) and the further erosion of our farming communities, 100's of billions of oil infrastructure investment for a single province and a Doug Ford style privatization of Canada's healthcare to "take pressure off healthcare" by allowing the wealthy to skip the line as the rest of our wait times increase as a result & our quality of care declines because when rich people aren't forced to use the same system as the rest of us, they will defund it accordingly, etc..... The sad reality is Canadians have to be forced to deal with PP's charm offensive on a nightly basis for at least a couple years in order for Canadians to understand what they're buying before he gets a majority government which will 110% f**** happen. If Carney wins he has to wear the the inevitable recession that Trump has planned for the world & PP will eventually be able to tear up any agreement Carney made & sell out Canadian workers to the American Corporations like they did for NAFTA. That's why I'm telling everyone I know to vote their conscience, that means Greens, NDP and god help us all, the PPC. Anything short of that? And they're going to make Cruella Deville Milhouse into Thanos and I'm really not okay with that. Unfortunately, PP is like an STD, it's going to sting for awhile doing our business but it will run its course & we can get back to the usual slow decent into Neoliberalism's boarded up main Street hellscape rather than PP hoisting a 51st flag over Parliament. Not a great choice BUT definitely one with real consequences we need to consider. The system works.
