  2. Congress works precisely as it was designed to. Make sure that the wealthy keep their wealth, protect the donor class, enriching the military industrial complex while avoiding any accountability, all while being able to blame the other side for the problems. The system works.

  4. That generation was deeply invested in the general good of the government. Otherwise Vietnam, civil rights movement demonization, etc would be sinister in a way that would shake their world view to the core.

  5. I say they should be paid a million a year, and be guaranteed at least $250k a year for life after. However, they can never lobby after, sit on corporate boards or go on any kind of think tanks. Also, they should have massively strict ethics and corruption laws that if they break they go to jail for a minimum of 10 years. With all the money government wastes two to legal corruption, this change would save trillions and would easily pay for this additional cost. Not to mention taking the corruption out of politics finally
