I visited as a Business person and was scammed out of around $15k - we stayed in a Hotel for Foreigners which was not that impressive, the China Hotel down the road was out of this world. As was their Supermarket / Mall. The Chinese people were busy and industrious - loved their Dogs (I have a pet business). I received some help from insurance over funds lost - but it wasn't a nice experience and we took a Lawyer and had a contract. Lesson learned - business is corrupted between China and the West. Gov't is corrupted. Chinese people are mainly oppressed and poor. Or like Jack Ma Owner of Alibaba - after 20 yrs of success the CCP took him out and imprisoned him. They forced him to access his private money in Singapore at gun point and give it to them. He's not seen or heard of. I expect they force him to set up Temu for them. So, all is not well there and with their Global expansion plans to quash Taiwan and potentially Japan and many other places - beware/enjoy/beware.
