  2. I left the UK in 96 just before the UK gave Blair three terms to deconstruct the country. Looking from the US and the outcome of the last election here, I think I made the right decision despite living in a blue leftist stronghold. I am miles from the nearest American big city. I lived in NYC, if I still did I'd have a totally different opinion.

  3. I, my manager, and a bunch of colleagues lost our jobs because of the utter incompetence of one of these incredibly empowered creatures. To top it all rather than fire her they transferred her to another department where she can do even more damage. This video reminds me of all the time wasting tone deaf town halls we had to endure where her and her gang would waste our time, quite unsubtly tell us that they are better than all of us, and get in the way of us getting our jobs done. Yeah, this video touches on a visceral level.

  5. I was in Homedepot (home improvement store in the US) yesterday, I asked one of the staff to help me with something. He comes over and puts down "Children of Dune" book. I asked him whether he's enjoying it and what prompted reading? He said the new movies 🙂

  9. Carl, this morning I watched "The Real Reason Why Music Is Getting Worse" by Rick Beato posted on YT. In it he lays out why modern music is sludge. He touches on computers and the ease of the unskilled to press a few buttons and regurgitate unremarkable generic content that everyone is doing. I think there are so many parallels but in the case of movies infected with an ideological twist. I rarely buy movies and I don't remember the last time I bought music that wasn't recorded before 1992.

  10. If I'm hiking in the woods and come across a bear of course I'd be very disturbed. What'll be disturbing too is coming across an unaccompanied woman on a hike in the woods. Why? Anything that happens to her every man within her vicinity, including me, will be considered a suspect in her disappearance if a bear gets and polishes her off. Just a thought.

  11. I'd been away from the UK for a very long time. Last year went into the Sainsbury's in West Wickham and used the checkout line that the old folks use because I only had cash. Had a nice old time talking to the people on line and the cashier about pets and things in general. Put a smile on my face. I did notice that overall the store has a bad rating. shrug.

I prefer containment so that those of us that do live in the woods with bears not too far away can do so in peace and quiet. My neighbor sent me a picture of a black bear on her porch taken with a ring doorbell. She was smart enough to not go out there and lecture the bear about how much men suck.

  18. 18:20 I also remember the UK being an incredibly happy place for me and my circle. I miss those days and it was one of the things that would have drawn me back in the 1st year or two of leaving. I was in the UK a year ago and on the flight back I asked myself whether this was the last time. I cannot see myself living back in its current depressing form.
