  1.  @mediocreman2  Yep. Our w0men director was helicoptered into the role. So incompetent that after just over a year my entire team was moved into another organization that didn't want us. The only relief I. my manger and peers that were culled was that the director got canned while this happened. I remember in the first year of the directors reign, after we'd lost 35% of long term senior staff, being told by the director that it's all good, 33% of the new hires were w0men. hurrah!

  2. In the months before I lost my job my employer went on a mission to eliminate all QA positions. On any project there were more managers and bean counters than engineers. Being so close to retirement I'm not sure I have the stomach for this anymore.

  5. I worked for a large bank during the 2008/9 financial crisis. The people that came from the banks that collapsed replaced senior people in the bank that did not have systemic problems, what happened next is like a virus these new people that have been given a second lease of life proceed to build a power base of people from the dead banks. Having seen that in real time it is no shock to me that once McDonnell Douglas was absorbed into the new host it was only a matter of time for Boeing. The final nail was selling Boeing's manufacturing capability to a Canadian venture capitalist in 2005 that owns Spirit Aerospace. Just like the Harvard hedge fund that masquerades as a "University", Boeing has become a hedge fund that also has a cheap plane manufacturing arm.
