  1. Why did any of this have to happen? In the 90's I went to Ireland on a hiking holiday, I flew in from the states and my friends from England came over on a ferry. After about 3 days of hiking we ended up in a pub in the countryside. Sitting there completely oblivious and laughing at our stupid jokes we suddenly twigged that locals had figured out we were English and had started singing some nationalist song while staring intently at us all the while singing. We got a clue, paid for our drinks, and got in our cars and got the hell out of there. I also remember the b*mbs in London during the 80's and had been within spitting distance of a couple of them. I especially remember Bishopsgate because I was in bed at the time in a room that had a huge Jacuzzi on the floor above. When it (boom) went off not realising what had actually had happened I thought that the tub had weakend the house structure and was coming thru the floor to squash me. All that said, I can't imagine an invasion of people that don't share your culture and have enormous contempt for you will ever go down well in Ireland. Just saying.
