The US is literal poison to relationships. I went back to the UK last week and my friends said, despite the UK having its own issues, that if I'd stayed in the UK I would have been married. It's no surprise that my sibling that lives in the US is divorced, however, if I am 100% truthful, my friends from college that I've known for 30+ years in the UK are still married and I don't see evidence of a breakdown - even when they face issues, they're able to figure things out. As to me in the US I've seen far too many stories where marriage and divorce is a mechanism used to steal a man's life from him. I will not participate in that.

Turned 60 today. I haven't really bothered with dating in almost a decade and a half and stopped for good 12 years ago. Took me quite a while to get a clue. Just imagine going on endless dates with people that have nothing who look down on you despite having everything they could ever want, a great job, two homes, nice cars, living away from crappy cities, friends abroad in different countries that we could visit. Nope, never good enough. For the longest time I thought it was me but now that I see other mens experiences I can take solace in realizing that no, it wasn't just me. I thank my stars I stopped because statistically the next step is for the princess to turn around and deconstruct the life you've built on a whim. No thanks.

My colleague is from Chile but has lived in the US most his life. I asked him about his Chinese wife, he said that she's lovely and after having dealt with them he said American women are a hard pass for him.

@Google-Account-hd5dk I know, right! Of all the people I know in the UK that I still keep in touch with not one of them is divorced. Clearly that is just my own personal experience of the people that I know and can't be extrapolated to a wider population. Dating for me here in the US has just been one retarded episode after another to the point 12 years ago I just stopped. It just wasn't worth it. Unfortunately for me, especially after this trip, the UK is no longer a place I can tolerate. Paying 30 pounds in a day to travel around London on public transport is insane, my friends being afraid to pick me up at the train stations because of unmarked cameras that take your picture and send fines for illegal parking even though there are no signs whatsoever, the government knowing exactly where I've traveled to because of how the Oyster cards work, the ULEZ zones, the 20 mph speed zones, the stupidly high cost of housing, on and on and on. It's a country I no longer recognize.

@missourimongoose8858 My experiences are from almost 30 years ago. I can imagine current day UK is not much better than the US.

@Teru_teru_bouzu I hear you. I'm pretty sure that I have an unusual set of friends. Walking around town and seeing how they were dressed, despite it being cold last week, it appears that the US rot is well established in the UK, probably more so. Like you, I no longer recognize home, despite my friends saying "welcome home". Thankfully in the US I live in the countryside, far from NYC.

@Al-Storm Funnily enough my best friend that lives in Dubai is on a biz trip to Thailand. He's also trying to figure out where to land eventually. I'll ask him how his trip is going.

@Jonathan-Shadow Yes, I saw many aspects of that. I could have mentioned them but my comment would be deleted too. I'm shocked the comments I made weren't yeeted too.

Sex in the City is cancer of the highest order. I can't believe I used to watch that poison.
